how i almost bought a porsche....again

My flaked-off spray tan and I are back! Rested to the point of ridiculousness and soooo happy to be reunited with the boy squad!

One of the highlights of my vacation was definitely going here....

The Porsche Show:

Look at that view! Look at those cars! .....if only Alan Rickman had been there, I think I would have spontaneously combusted-- that would have been too much perfection in one place.

I couldn't help but think how many millions of dollars were spread across this lawn....ai yi yi

I have always been a bit of a car buff---vintage British roadsters being my passion. But I am **ALL** girl--because no matter how beefy an engine might be or what kind of torque it has, I'm still mostly drawn to how pretty a car is. And this one was PRETTY!.....
And this one was my most favorite shade of green.....

Orange racing details? I'm in love......

A red head.....Hellooooooo Beautiful!

Near the end, the sprinklers kicked on. See the poor little red Porsche whose owners took it there and left it all alone? Yeah--thank goodness for the kindness of strangers who pushed it our of the way. Convertibles and streams of water don't make a good combination.

And how else to end the afternoon but to drive off in my friend's Porsche? OK--so I didn't drive, although the offer was made. Somehow I couldn't see myself maneuvering something worth more than my house. I was, however, a giddy passenger!!!

Afterwards--my head all spinning in a cloud of glittery Porsche convertible dust--I called to see if this one was still available in my city. I even worked out how I would pay for it. I guess the economy isn't as bad as I thought because......................... it had been sold :( .
Ah well! I guess that means that all 4 of my children will get to attend college after all. Though I DO hope to one day own a car that they think is cool enough to sneak out and drive. And yes, dear mother of mine---now that you're in heaven, you're probably privy to the fact that I DID drive the Nissan 300ZX on two occasions without telling you. I can't help but think it's all your fault for buying such a beautiful car. If you'd only had a mini-van....like me...... :)
More vacation pictures to come with Friday Fotos. In the meantime, if you hear some sobbing coming from the direction of Idaho--yeah, it's me. I find it perfectly normal to cry about "the one who got away".... even if it is metallic and 4-wheeled.
HOW ABOUT YOU--DO YOU HAVE A DREAM CAR?

Well, NOW I do - those are BEEEEAUTIFUL!!! (Although I can't even fathom anything without a slew of carseats in the back...)

how fun! my brother in-law is part of a porche club....owns his own....they were actually here in CO @ breckenridge a few weeks ago for some get-to-gether of some kind---probably very similar to the one you were at in CA.....what beauty---i'm kind of partial to the old kind of car....they are just so pretty.

--my dream car is a mini coup....someday i'll be zooming in one---but not until i don't need all the seats :)

I remember swooning over the Miata back in the day....
then I found out it's name refers to taking a pee in Spanish...or something like that...and it lost it's appeal......

Now I'd settle for a self-cleaning car.

I feel like Lightning McQueen--Holy Porsche! I still say tell your boys to get a job now for college and keep on the lookout for your own. :) It will be worth it.
I haven't thought a lot about a dream car--I'm still working on my dream house.

At least you won't stay up late worrying about who snuck out in the van. No kid wants to drive a van!

My obsession is Corvettes. My dad has always had one, an old one or a new one, and hopefully he'll give one of them to me when he's too old to drive it.

Red mustang convertible. New, pre-owned, vintage -- it doesn;t matter!!

Love the porsches, though. Thanks for sharing :)

I can totally see you driving that olive green one around! The one with the racing stripes reminded me of Herbie for some reason. :)

Honestly the car I always wanted was a big ol' suburban type thing. I've come close w/the Expedition. Now, I just need leather and a few more bells and whistles.

I was basically faced with that decision 4 years ago when my parents offered me a car for graduation. Obviously, there were certain boundaries, but I've never been one for expensive things, anyway. I weighed out exactly what I wanted (also had to be cheap to maintain, insure, and gas up) and I ended up with a Camry. I like it...I do...I just wish it was a prettier color, like an electric blue, purple, or bright green.

My dream car is just a clean car. My car always is trashed and I can never seem to keep it clean as hard as I try!

I think it just became that green one. :)

Oooh, Nissan 300ZX. You reminded me of when I was in HS and I worked for a construction company--but it was on the small side, office-wise, and VERY family-oriented. Anyway. The owner's wife had a 300ZX (in addition to her momvan, of course). One day the car I usually drove to run company errands was in the shop, so what did they have me drive? The 300ZX! I was scared out of my mind at first, but then I had Fu-u-un! That car went FAST!!! =) And man, I looked good in it! ;-)

Gorgeous pictures!! Wow. Coastal views AND classic cars. You're right. Alan Rickman would've ruined everything by showing, cuz that would've been MY LIMIT, too. :-D

Just found your blog. Love it! We love boys here, too!
