friday fotos---come ride the roller coaster that was my week!

TRUE STORY: I have never been on a roller coaster that went upside down. In fact, I can still count on one and a half hands how many roller coasters I've been on in my whole life (and of those, probably half were geared toward children...). Guess I'm just not much of a thrill seeker in that respect. HOWEVER, I would have to say that this week has been pretty darn close to one crazy roller coaster ride!
Load 'em up! Two to a seat! Here's what we've been up to this week......
The main source of my stress this week has been with my BookArts class. You know---the one that made me make papyrus out of a leek, and paper out of denim, and a pop up book that got a C after 20 hours of work. Every week, another student has dropped out of that class because it is soooo stinking hard.
Our newest book/essay combo had to do with these babies......

Typewriters... And their significance or insignificance in our life. One 5-7 page essay and one artist's book about the subject. I took about another 20 hours creating a book that resembled a typewriter morgue. Lots and lots of finely detailed work that ended up compressing a disc in my neck.
So BAD NEWS: My neck and all the nerves on the right side of my body are killing me.....making it hard to do much computer work (on my computer that continues to die anyway)
GOOD NEWS: I got an A on the book and an A+ on the report. BOO-YA!!!! That's more like it!!!
One fun part of the whole project was taking Zane to school with me to photograph the typewriters. He got to try one out. And now he knows what I had to grow up with---all that thwacking and dinging and Wite-Out! Here he is with one of the myriad sculpture on campus:

GOOD NEWS: Liam and James are so cute that they can get away with just about anything. Throwing the just-because "I love you Mom" and hug only adds to what I end up overlooking.
BAD NEWS: Lately it seems I've been overlooking the fact that they consume an awful lot of chocolate.....

and especially chocolate milk, or "kiddie coffee" as I call it since they ask for it first thing in the morning and then practically mainline the stuff throughout the day. Cutie pie James and his beloved 'chockie-milk'.....

They also eat carrots and apples, so it's all good--right?
Remember those Easter decorations I said I got out? Here are some of them.....

I pulled my big kids out of school an hour early today so we could make Easter cookies and color our eggs before I had to go to class (cause I'm a cool mom like that :) )
Here is Zane's special Easter message to you......

Do you think we might watch American Idol around here?
I guess I echo the beautiful Easter sentiment of "Peace Dog". And add--
He is Risen.
And that makes all the difference.
~Happy Weekending! and Happy Easter!~

Hooray for the A! And I love the picture of James and the "chockie milk". His facial expression is ridiculously cute. Happy Easter!

I have avoided giving Gray chocolate milk to this point because I know how addicting it can be and I'm not ready for that road yet. As it is, if he ever gets juice it's watered down so much he can barely taste it! And for now, he loves water and just plain milk, so I will hold off on the chocolatey goodness for a little longer...I'm sure I'll break at some point though because it tastes so good!

Your boys are darling as usual-and the eggs turned out so cute. Great job on your school stuff too. Love ya!

girl - you need a backrub. Put those boys to work. We need you to be able to type and share your words with us. :)

Nothing wrong with a daily dose of chockie-milk. :) Good job on the good grade, bad job on the back ache. Not fun! Zane's egg cracks me up. We do ours tomorrow, guess we'll see if my kids come up with any fun messages for the world.

Hey, there...

I just had to stop by and say thank you for the lovely comment you left on my blog (the mammogram post).

I appreciated it soooo much. I was afraid that some people might think that posting a humorous piece about mammograms was disrespectful somehow. I was so happy to hear your thoughts!

Thanks again and have a great weekend! Take care...

XO

When I first went away to college (1992), I took a typewriter. Only one girl on my dorm floor had a computer and it was little more than a word processor. It is weird to me that my kid(s) will have no idea what a typewriter is or that it will look to them like one of those manual lawnmowers looked to me.

Great job on the report and book and Happy Easter!

Is this a class you are taking for fun???? Sounds like a ton of work ... but kind of interseting. Congrats on your As!

Love the photos and the Yo Gabba Gabba shirt.

Peace Dog!

OH MY GOODNESS!!!! You KNOW I'm going to freak out over your neck thing and come running and running with aide, and ALL KINDS OF ADVICE!!!!!!!!! AHHH!

My latest and best trick....grab a cookie sheet, put it in your lap (yes, it looks ridiculous), put your little mouse pad on it and click away from down there. Also, use your keyboard down there too....at least until your neck gets better. I promise....IT HELPS A TON!

Okay....there are my two cents. I'm out of breath from all of that running. I'll walk away now and leave you alone....

Congrats on that A! That feels so darn good. Take that you hard professor!

Okay...I've been obsessing about my cookie sheet advice....make sure the cookie sheet is upsidedown. If you come up with a more glamorous flat surface, please tell me! No need to look foolish if you don't have to!
