who wants to be $250-aire?

Hooray for contests!!! Blog contests are really *the best* because you have a pretty good chance of winning! So here it is:

One of my friends owns 5 gourmet pizza restaurants. They are all doing great, so more are on the way. If things go well, the restaurant could be in strip malls throughout the country. The only bad thing is that the current name isn't really working. It's well known in the little college town it started in, but my friend's not sure that everyone else is going to "get it" (a few of you I know went to school in this little town, so pleeeeease don't say the name if you recognize the place!). Anywhoo....I've been given the thumbs up to let YOU try and name the new restaurant!

~The restaurant concept is all you can eat, high-quality pizza, salad, and pasta. The current feel is contemporary Italian---cement floor, golden yellow walls, stained wood, fireplace, etc.., but that's all up in the air and could be changed with the right name~

What would YOU name the place? And if your name hinges on a certain font, logo, style, or advertising slogan--let us know about that too!

*********Here are the rules:***********

First, if you're on Blogger and not following me---get following!!! (there has to be SOMETHING in this for me besides the hundred bucks I get if my blog produces the winner....right :)?!), and then leave your answer either in the comments section or in my email box (see the link to my email in my profile).

Now the one caveat is that my friend might not like any of the names, in which case--no winner will be announced. You'll have to trust me that he's a super honest guy and wouldn't use any of your ideas without awarding you the prize. If there IS a winner, they will be announced the day the sign is hoisted up on the new place.

And what is the prize?....

Bragging rights to your idea being front and center on an insanely expensive restaurant sign , $200 in gift certificates when the restaurant comes to a town near you (or you make the trip out west to go eat there!) AND $250.00 CASH-A-ROO.

Contest will CLOSE this Tuesday at midnight (Mountain Standard time). Tell all your creative friends and GET NAMING!!!!

Thanks for playing!

p.s....here's the interior of one of the current restaurants if you need a little more inspiration. And again, if you recognize it--sssssssh! Let's let him keep his competitive advantage!

Pizza Hut! No, Dominos! No....acutally the best I could come up with was a slogan "It's Doughlicious!"....which is why there is now a contest :)

What's the best part about pizza? The SAUCE! So... Italian for sauce is:

"Guazzetto" or funner yet:
"Le Guazzetto"
or "Signor Guazzetto" (Mr. Sauce)

I've been to Italy... and can I say they put hardly any sauce on their pizza? It's all about the sauce :) p.s. All Italians are skinny, so maybe less sauce is better for you, but I say sauce is up.

p.s. I mean sauce IT up... hooked on phonics needs to give me refund.

I would go with something really simple and elegant, like "Lucia's" (pronounced Lu-chi-a's). One of my favorite books is called "Lucia, Lucia" about an Italian girl living in New York City.

Can't you picture this conversation?:

"Hey, where we gonna go ta eat?"
"How 'bout Lucia's?"

Nice.

I like the name "Pistacchio's" because it just sounds like a fun place to be.

I live Sky Pie Pizza Company. You could have the logo be a black, gray, and white city silhouette at night with a full colored pizza like a full moon over the top of it all, and make the interiors very clean, upscale, New York modern. Still family friendly but with a lot of dark wood and bright silver accents. Oh and square plates--I love square plates!

Jennifer, Can we enter twice? As I was driving today I was thinking about "The Boot" as another name to enter... meaning of course that Italy is shaped as a boot, and how very cool boots are, especially black leather ones, but in this case, cool as a hip restaurant name.

Zane guesses Maro Polo's (he just finished doing a report on the Italian explorer), but says he won't be mad if you don't pick his name :)

Okay I thought about it last night and the best I could come up with was: Pi'zamore or Pizz'amore or PizzAmore. It sounds like (Pete's amore)
Said like "that's amore" from the song "When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's amore." Get it? :)

OOOOOOOOOOoooh! So fun! I'm going to think for a while, and come back. I love these sorts of things. To think, someone needing input! I'm always naming places in my mind.

Now I've set myself up.....I'd better produce. I'm not going to read anyone else's comments so that the creative juices can flow.

I'll be back before Tuesday....

Pizza Palace? Only thing I can think of. I think the other suggestions were better.

Casa (house/home/family)

Oh Manic Mandee's comment brings back memories....we HAD a fabulous Pizza Parlor called The Pizza Palace. It's out of business now, just recently.
So I vote for The Pizza Palace!

How about:

Pizza Pie Cafe
or
Pizza Ciao
or
la pizza calda (hot pizza)

I know it's too late....but I had to wait until my perfect title finally came to mind. Here are my thoughts.

Insert owner's name here
__________ gourmet pizza.

or Top Gourmet pizza (tried to think of toppings).

I like that. I would eat there. The toppings had better be good!

The Firehouse or Firehouse Pizza! I really love it. The color red is associated with Pizza. The name creates a fun atmosphere and there are many marketing and decorating ideas that can spin off from this. Fire stations are always cooking large family style meals. I think it's a winner. What do you think?
