Here's how it all went down...
My sister took this picture of James and I. I love it!---not only because she caught us both laughing, but also for the secondary story it is telling...
See how there are boards missing from my decrepit old fence? The neighbors behind me rent the house, and their lilac bush is pushing my fence over. I have tried to talk with them about cutting it, but their response (spoken through a micro-crack in their front door) was: "we're just renting the house. It's not our problem". Unable to get ahold of the property company they rent from, I took to trimming their bush myself by dismantling my fence to get at it. Just call it another adventure in single-life-hood. My methods might not always be the most tactful, but I get the job done!
James unwrapping presents with lots of 'help'...
Another masterpiece, pile-of-cupcakes birthday cake made by me (that's sarcasm, by the way). I did get rid of 3 sticks of butter in the making of those Sprinkles cupcakes with frosting though!....
Happy Birthday little guy! Next week we start potty-training!

My 3 yr old says she is NOT a baby anymore....unless she wants to suck her finger...then 'can I be baby now?'
PS- I LOVE 3-stick butter cream frosting on my cupcakes :D
what a good mommy
I hope he has a really good birthday!!
Great job on the fence.
Three is my absolute favorite age! Good luck potty training, ick.
What a cutie! I love the brown eyes/ chocolate milk!
And I hope three is still a baby. My baby will be three in just a few short months. :-(
Love that you trimmed the bush yourself. Good luck with the potty training! Just let him go outside.
Oh! I just want to pinch him!! And yes, 3 is still a baby. I'm starting think that 4 will still be a baby too. I always told myself that I wouldn't "baby" my youngest. HA! That's the biggest laugh in my face ever. I baby her bad, and enjoy every minute of it.
I LOVE how you trimmed their lilacs. HILARIOUS!! I want a lilace bush really bad. I planted one on Nampa, wonder how big it is these days?
Happy Birthday to beautiful James, and good luck going potty!!!
Don't you hate your youngest growing up??? It sucks. Bad word, but true.
Oh three! What an age. You snuggle with him as long as he'll let you (cutie-patootie he is) -Yoda voice-
Too cute!! Sorry about the fence, but way to take care of it yourself!

Uh-oh. 4-yr-old Mr Destructo has yet to be potty trained. Methinks I failed that parent requirement class.
That James is so stinking cute.
I love 3!
looks like you all had a wonderful time! i love the fence story :) way to get things done!
My baby just turned 3 too. I can't think about potty training yet. I'm thinking -- this summer sounds good. I've offered to pay my older kids to do it :-). Your post about the dream about your mother was very sweet. I could use one of those dreams. This weekend's beautiful, hope you're enjoying it.
He is adorable, TRULY! That is a great pic of you guys too. Happy (belated!) birthday, James!
I'd forgotten that James and Jack were so close in age. Sorrya bout your neighbors and the Lilac bush...lame. Have a Happy Sunday!
Hey, I have no problem with calling a 3 year old your baby! My youngest of 4 is 3 and1/2 and we still call him "the baby." I think I always will!
What a fun day! I love love love your brick wall in the dining area! Just fabulous!
Hip, hip, hurray! For birthdays and potty training!
What a cutie! And that picture of the two of you is priceless! I would clip that bush and throw the trimmings over onto their side of the fence. But I'm vengeful like that.
Happy birthday to him!
Your baby is scrumptious!! Doesn't mothering just fill you up inside?? And a great mama you are...!
Cheers,
Linda
Yes, yes, yes, 3 is still a baby! I think with Emma, 33 will still be a baby for me. Joe faithfully reminds Emma to take her fingers out of her mouth, but I secretly love seeing my baby curled up with her blankie and fingers in her mouth. (So I guess I will have to be the one to take her to orthodontist appointments down the road.) But that will just be a little more time with my baby dear! Happy birthday to James!
You are gorgeous...your boys are goreous...your HOUSE is gorgeous..and those cupcakes have made me hungry. The end.
p.s. My lilac bush needs a major trimming...wanna come help with that?
Happy Birthday, James!!!!
I love the lilac trimming thing. Awesome.
