aaaaah....family picture day. There's a lot of work put into the attempt to get ONE decent photograph. Making sure everyone's hair is cut at the same time. Keeping everyone's faces and knees wound-free. Trying to coordinate outfits (even if you forget about feet and your blue/brown color scheme is marred by son's black and red skateboard shoes....).
Add to that the fact that THIS ONE was being naughty.....

And THIS ONE was being grumpy.....

And THIS ONE was being silly.....

And THIS ONE was being oh so serious.....

***Throw in some scattered thundershowers and the fact that we were at a park, and it made for some awkward, yet passable, posing***

I liked the results of that plan much better :) .....

Now we just need a beagle, some snazzy jazz in the background, and some assorted, repetitive dancing (ya know--like Charlie Brown. I have no idea what he has to do with this post, but I sure love the music!).

When was the last time YOU had a professional family picture taken? And what was the hardest part about the preparation for it?

Beautiful pictures of a beautiful family!! Those little guys are handsome.

For us it is definately getting all the boys to stay in the picture and not frown. I think I am learning that my boys must think it is a sign of weakness to smile in a picture or something! Oh what I would give for a smiley child that loves to pose...
Love the pictures. What a great family---
last picture, melt my heart-
i love the real pictures...the posed was just too, well, serious! love them!
The boys look sooo cute and they are getting so old! I love the last picture. I am going to make my kids do that to me! :0)
They are all great, but seriously, that bottom one....PRECIOUS! And I totally know why you chose this music, its your Fall mantra. :)
Those are GREAT Jennifer!
We actually just did them last week!....only to have the photog email and say she had NOT ONE good family photo that she could sell us. Sarah would NOT smile. They were tired/hungry/didn't want to wear the clothes I chose. So now we're going to try AGAIN. Yes, I have to try and psych them up AGAIN. UGGGHH!
You're are just fabulous!
Oh my goodness! I think they are all precious! But I especially love the last 2!!
Adorable pictures you guys. Love them. Greg and I are having professional pictures taken in a few weeks. But, this lady that I am using just lets you be yourself while she captures those moments. So the pressure of trying to get my two year old to hold a pose is off...thank goodness. I will let you know how it goes!
i actually prefer to just ry and "capture" when i do pictures. the few posed ones are ok to try and get...but i think that the best ones come from letting the kids be themselvs and exhibiting their own personalities...that is what you want in a pictures anyways, right?
when we did our pics earlier in the year...the hardest part was getting jack to cooperate with more than just one picture.
and when i took his pics last month, he only wanted to pose for one....oh the struggles we have to try and capture the essence of our children's youth (and our growing pains)
your pics look great btw---i esp like the one on the bench. :)
I love your pictures! So full of personality and life.
That last picture.... oh my, its beautiful!
We haven't had a profession portrait made of our family since my son was 18 months. He's over 4 now! He has autism and is quite difficult to manage at posed portraits. That's why I got a camera myself :)
Those pictures are adorable! I love the one of the boys piling on you!
XOXO
Jen
Those are great shots!!
The last time we had a family picture was when my youngest was born. Maybe it is time for another one:-)
we did one when Monkey was 3 months old and the photographer would make this crazy noise so the dogs would look at her (yeah we brought the dogs) and that would make Monkey cry.
We are preparing one for the pumpkin patch and I am NOT bringing the dogs and we are going to be ourselves!!!
Cute! Love your photos!
One of my good girlfriends from childhood is a professional photographer and actually takes our photos quite often. I have no excuse. She coordinates all our clothing and plays dress up with me. I have her artwork all over our home and love it. We have an appointment to get our family/Christmas card photos taken next week. Can't wait! She's amazing!!
My hubby is one of 4 boys and given the knowlege I have of their cooperation level, I am amazed you got such great shots! I have a 2 year old boy. That, by itself, should explain the the hardest part about the prep! ;o)
That last picture is the. best. EVER.
GREAT PICS!! character came out in all of them.
