The Carving of the Pumpkins

We had a fun family night tonight. First we had a lesson, then made caramel apples, then carved our jack-o-lanterns, and finally watched our beloved copy of It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown (favorite line: never discuss politics, religion, or the Great Pumpkin!). Zane at work on the face--he picked the shape of the eyes, Liam picked the nose shape, and Ethan chose the mouth.
James on the table, as usual , and into everything, as usual! He actually liked sticking his hand in all the goop.
I got a little lazy with my pumpkin. I put our wood bit on the drill and just drilled it full of holes. It actually looks really neat lit up and kind of Martha Stewart-esque. But boy did it make a mess!
I cut these sillouhete (spelling?) shapes out of black poster board and hung them up today. I've actually had it planned out for a few weeks, but knew they wouldn't last long in a place James could reach. It's suppose to be a haunted tree with two jack-o-lanterns and some leaves under it. On the left window is another branch with some more leaves, and on the right window there's a big crescent moon and another star. There are also swirls of wind I made with white window paint, but you can't see them. I think it all looks neat with my shades pulled down. Anyway, James is already starting to realize that he can pull pieces of it off, so I'm glad I got a picture of it because it may not make it the two days until Halloween.

WAY cute window!!! I hope James leaves it alone cause it's so cute and I can tell lots of hard work was put into it. Looks like we were all thinking the same last night. :)
