James wanted to be a part of the show and tell too, so he stomped around in his new blinking light shoes and said "shoes! shoes!". It was pretty cute, but I may be partial!

Commonwealth School
Every Friday we go to Commonwealth School, which is a co-op of about 16 homeschooling moms (and two dads) and our 50 kids. This 10 week block we're studying science, history, music, and art. It's a fun break from mom always being the teacher, and gives them just enough school (5 hours plus lunch and recess) to feel like they know what school is all about.
I teach the art/humanities class for the 9-13 year olds. Any teacher would love having these kids in their class--every one of them is polite, smart, funny, and obedient. Today we were re-creating Van Gogh's "Starry Night". It was very messy but very fun.
Before classes start the kids have a chance to do a show and tell of their talents. This week was our assigned week Zane played a piano piece called "El Zappata" and did it perfectly. Both he and Ethan are already in level 3 and 4 pieces despite only 8 months of lessons. They just seem to encourage eachother on. (I'm a very proud mom--I've always wanted kids who loved playing the piano since I gave up on it after 5 years.) (Also you can see Liam "exploring" instead of sitting down with the other kids! What a stinker ;)!).
Ethan demonstrated speed cup stacking. The world record holders can do it in 6-7 seconds, and his best time is 10 seconds. His little hands seem to be flying! I thought they both did a great job.

such cute photos and what a fun thing to do that co-op. I'd love to see the cup stacking too & hear the piano piece. Such talented boys! (: Thanks for your comments!
Wow, Ethan is going to take out those record holders in no time! And I keep forgetting to ask what books your boys are learning from (piano)? I am so slacking in the teaching piano department here. It's pathetic.
