Just when you think you're over it. I have been sick with a cold and various other ailments since Feb. 3. On Feb. 13 I could feel it begin to morph into the flu. You've already read about how I crashed on Valentines night. I was pretty much bed ridden all through that Sunday. Was feeling better by Monday and saw my husband off on a trip. Stayed up through Tuesday (in time to do my last post), and then felt old Mr. Flu re-double his efforts and come at me for some more. This time, I took a trip to the doctor. Intense arthritis-like pain in all my joints. Got put on narcotics and various other medications. Thursday at 4 am, I call Brad home from his trip and have my sister take me to the ER. There they give me more and stronger narcotics to get between me and the pain. This morning, I begin throwing up all the narcotics and take myself another little trip to the ER for further x-rays and blood work and something to counteract all the narcotics. I tell ya, I'm the kind of girl who was up and working out within days of my babies being born. Nothing has ever knocked me down for more than 2-3 days. We're on day 10 of this, and I must be doing better because 1. I'm up and kind of sitting (kind of leaning...) 2. I am no longer begging for someone to please kill me now. and 3. I ate something that didn't taste like bile for the first time in days. I am not strong enough yet, however, to make all my text big and small--sorry.
Sooooo glad I got my flu shot this year......

So sorry to hear you are sick. I know once I got the flu (without having the flu shot) I swore I'd always get the flu shot from now on. However, I've heard that this year the flu shots didn't protect everyone from ALL strains of flu going around right now. Alot of people who've gotten their shot have come down with the very thing they thought they were protected from. I got my shot last year, and knock on wood, am still ok. You're not alone though. I know it's murphy's law to get sick when you're husband is out of town when you need him most. Hope you are back to normal soon and maybe the CDC will get the flu vaccine right next year.
Take care and I hope you're on your way to a full recovery VERY SOON.

I'm tho thorry. We've had the crud all week and it is tho deprething. May God heal you up quick!!
OH boy! Get over that thing before we're with you!!! Wait, I do like the 14 lbs. loss you've talked about. Better yet, hang on to this bug and let me lick your spoon. :) You poor thing, it is SOOOOOOO not fun to be sick with Dad gone. Hope the boys are being good helps for you.
Elena--
Brad got called home at 4 am on Thurs.--I haven't been out of bed at all since Wed. except to go to the dr./hospital. The boys were good helpers, but I was completely incompacitated sleeping for 19 hours a day. I'm up to 18 pounds lost now, but I'd gladly gain it all back if I could just eat normally again. Those nasty narcotics mess with your sense of taste and smell--as well as with your appetite. I promise to be all better by next month though!
Girl!!!!
Oh my gosh!! I wish that I lived next door to you and could come over and help you or do a crazy dance and make you laugh!
Oh, how I miss big and little words!! It's just not the same!
Please feel better soon and I bet at least you are a skinny stick after all this!
And yes, you were right about the Martha comment, I really should have put that in!
I could tell you were not yourself you didn't capitalize, bold or italics anything. LOL! Seriously, I am sorry to hear you are sick. Praying for a full recovery.
I'm So sorry, I feel for you. AND it snowed all day yesterday. Geez. Hopefully March will be much better, and maybe the sight of flowers budding will chase the crud away...
♥ It's crazy how many different strains of the flu there are. That's terrible that you've been SOOO sick! I hope that you start feeling MUCH better!!!
Poor you! I'm glad you are on the mend.
I am so sad for you because I have had the flu since last Wednesday and can absolutely feel your pain. I had a one day reprieve yesterday and was able to go to my baby shower (convenient, I know.) But then I was up all night last night holding back the poops and the pukes--sorry to be so graphic, but I know another flu-ite can handle the truth.
That Babymoon is but a distant memory after the last week of flu from hell.
Many blessings on you girl. Tracey
yoysers!!! that is some bug that you caught! and the doctor's can't give you anything else except, "you've got the flu?"
that's pretty crappy. stay in bed and anjoy it (easier said than done when your a wife and mom) feel better soon!
Yuck-yuck! Once I had a 3 week flu that went on for ages. When I awoke, I realized just how dirty my house was and went on a cleaning rampage only to have a relapse for another week. Take it easy.
Thanks so much for everyone's well-wishes. Glad to know a few of you out there have suffered with it for a long time too--well not GLAD, but less lonely. I cannot believe how insane this pain is. Rheumatoid arthritis pain in every single joint from my fingers to my toes is how the doctor described it. And yes--all they can say is that it's the flu. I swore it had to be menangitis or auto-immune disease or SOMETHING, but--nope. Just the flu. "Bad strain this year" they said.
thanks again guys. For the 1 hour I'm up a day--it's nice to hear some happy comments. Tracy--you work especially hard at getting over it. I know pregnancy automatically doubles every ache and pain and illness!
Hey Jen,
I am writing to remind you that Kenedy is getting baptized March 1 at 3:30. It is at the ustick building which is the same building we blessed Rylee in. Between Linder and 10 mile.
I hope you feel better soon!!!
Love, Elizabeth
Whoa...that flu "bug" you have is a flu "monster." Narcotics, 18 lbs of weight loss, ER visits, that is some kind of nasty strain. I do hope you feel better soon and that your family stays healthy. I am amazed you were able to type out your post! You have inspired me this week...I am doing my posts on "Useful or Beautiful or both...or so I think" items around my house...You really got me thinking about that, and for the last two weeks, I have been taking pictures etc to get ready for it. Oh and by the way, Weird Al at 10 years old?!! I truly laughed out loud when I read that...there were some great replies and yours was one of the funniest...thanks for piping in!
I agree with the comment above. you didn't capitalize or bold anything. you must be under the weather. i am so so sorry. it is the worst. i think moms should get a "get out of sick card". get better soon. when you do stop by my blog. i left you a comment and would love to know what you think. it has to do with poetry. ;)
Hi Jennifer P...I hung with the Nester this weekend and she read this post to me on Saturday. We both "awwwed" and "poor thing!"-ed appropriately as your sick story unfolded. Can't wait til you're back to your normal self.
We were at Vicki's this weekend and she said you were still sick and I felt so bad. Last time I read your blog things were looking up. But I hope they're looking....well, back up. Oh, By the by, I took your useful beautiful things challenge, thanks for the idea. Talk to you son!
oh yuck...I am so sorry. I am so glad your starting to feel a little better.
~simply~
Oh boy...I feel for you immensely!! I HATE the flu and had it bad (but not THAT bad) last year. It's a nasty place it takes you to.
I hope you turn the corner soon...
Linda
