upkeep

You know how you're advised to change your oil every 3 months or 3,000 miles? Put new batteries in your smoke detectors every daylight savings time? Replace your furnace filter every 8 weeks? All that stuff that occupies so much of our time and space on our to-do lists? You know....upkeep?! I noticed a lot of things around here today that needed some upkeep too....

For example, because I didn't keep up with cleaning at the same rate my children were un-cleaning, my house ended up looking like this:

Because I didn't keep up with the "monitoring" of Brad, Zane and Ethan in the hot tub, they ended up daring one another to do this:
brrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

then this:
I don't get this whole "male bonding" thing!!!

Luckily, I did keep up with coloring my hair (I remember when I use to color my hair because it was fun to have a change, not because it was gray as a grandma!), whitening my teeth (hooray for Crest White Strips!), shrinking my pores (if you could walk on my face you might fall into one of them!), and bleaching my 'stache ( no one else seems to notice the thin gray mark above my lip--but I do, therefore it has to go!): I know I'm a very brave woman to put this picture of myself up, but if you can't laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at, right? Besides--you have to be impressed with my multi-tasking beauty skills!

So I wouldn't end up looking like this: Finally, because I didn't keep up with my cutie-pie niece Karli, she went and had a cutie-pie baby that I want to take home and call my own! {Alright, this one probably doesn't go along with the rest of the post, but I went to her baby shower today and wanted to make sure it got mentioned. Would you look at how yummy little Gray is?!}:

And I'm sure if I didn't keep up with this blog, you'd all be heartbroken, right?!

Don't know about anybody else, but I would cry!!

Yes, the heaader picture is of Grandma. I think I got dis-inherited (again...) for putting it up there.

Oh my gosh - is dying your hair hard to do. I have these loverly grey THINGS growing in faster than I can pull them out, and I need to do something. I have Dark Chocolate colored hair to begin with, so I can't really hide them....

Dying your hair at home isn't hard--except that I only use semi-permanent (Natural Instincts) and color glaze. When I want to really change colors or treat myself, I'll go dish out the 75 bucks for my stylist to do it. But I think in the end they're really just slapping the same stuff on your hair that you buy in the store (though they'd NEVER admit it!).

I was cursed with gray hair! My dad was salt & pepper gray by 18... I started getting gray hair when I was 18... and I'm due for a color job myself. I'm glad I'm not the only one. :)

Sweet baby...

thanks for coming to the shower too. it was good to see you in person. we love our little guy too and are so excited to have him. now if he could only figure out that waking up at 7:00 for the morning is such a better idea than 5:00 am... (:

OH MY....I cannot believe you took a picture of yourself doing that and then posting it! I wait until my husband goes out of town before I even attempt it. If you will excuse me now, I need to go change my pants from laughing so hard. I dont even know how I found this page...my first time and lady, I am bookmarking it. lol Keep it up.

Hey! I have a nine month old baby boy named Grayson, who we call Gray, and when we named him we thought it was pretty unusual...I guess we were wrong! I still like it anyway :) Babies are great!

I wish I could color my hair myself. I told my hair stylest to put me on the flex plan since I'm there every 6-7 weeks.
I think you look cute and at first I thought that living room was mine. Boys sure can mess things up.
