Since I have done little to nothing of anything this week, I thought I'd at least group together the few tidbits and discoveries that brought a smile to my face in the midst of all the gloom.
First off, I got a few more Valentines Day decorations up. My flower tree was thrilled to have a little company. Not sure why I keep stringing holiday decorations across my front window--it just seems to work. (And yes, those snow swirl decorations are still up from Christmas--but it's been too stinking cold to go outside and wash my windows. Plus I decided they were wintery enough to stay up till the end of this month. Right? I need some backing up on this one so I don't feel too lazy! ) I actually painted the clothespins silver, but I don't know if you can tell in the picture or not. And I love ric-rac--that's what they're hanging on.
Look at these pretty flowers. It's so good to see Tulips again. They're some of my favorites. There are even a couple of purple Cala Lillies in there--more of my favorites. I'm not too great making arrangements, but I do love having fresh flowers around. And I love the hobnail glass vase that use to belong to my mom. I think it suits them!
IT'S THE YEAR OF THE RAT! Get out those traps......
Look what I got in the mail today..
These are just too cute for words! I got them from Beckie for helping her tackle painting vertical stripes on her playroom walls. The paper words are actually soldered (I think that's how you spell it--darn no spell check!!!) between two thin panes of glass--and she did it herself!!! How awesome is that? And they're hung on chainmail--be still my heart. I adore chain mail! **Thank you so much Beckie!** My favorite part was that they came in this cute little package that she hand decorated with crayon flowers. I'll probably keep that as long as I keep the necklaces :)!
Next, I don't know if any of you are aware that my birthday is coming up. Yes, in just 4 short months..... So, I'm putting in my order early. If any of you would like to get me one of these beauties, I won't protest. Don't these just look like something any self-respecting 21st century June Cleaver (that's me!) should have? I'd totally wear them over my jeans out in public. (I'm just kidding, by the way, I don't really solicite birthday gifts from people!--but I did want you guys to see them.)
And finally, this little guy always makes me happy...(except when he's infuriating me!---)
I realized it had been a while since I'd put a picture of James up, so I just wanted to throw this in. He is almost 21 months now and such a smart little stinker. The other day Liam and I were doing a dot-to-dot together and counting out loud as we went. We had paused at the 11 dot and were looking for 12, when from behind me I hear James pipe in "tweve, tur-teen, foh-teen". I'm sensing a full ride Harvard scholarship here.....
I hope I've managed to entertain ya'al a bit and to convince Lee Ann that I'm not dead! It's so good to be back.

Love your window! Fresh flowers are the BEST! I can't wait for spring and all the flowers springing up! :)
You are certainly welcome. I am glad my gift could be a little sunshine in your grey world last week. Enjoy!
YAY! That's 3 people that have tried the fortune cookies, I love the cake!
The necklace is so cute, how festive!
Happy Valentine-season! I guess I'm the only one that does not have valentine decor... Hmmmmmmmm.
So glad you're back. I wondered over to your blog from Meg's and now I'm hooked. I enjoy reading about your life and your boys I have three.) We're currently trying to decide whether or not to have a 4th. I'm just sure in my heart it will be another boy. :)
Keep blogging!
Mom to three boys
Yay, you're up and about! Cute little James, I just ran into his newborn picture yesterday. Such a cutie pie! We're doing our Chinese New Year celebration on Monday night when we go to the cabin with Jarom's family. And I am doing personalized fortune cookies as my valentines this year. Should be lots of fun.
Elena--
I did some where I added a little cocoa powder to the recipe (chocolate fortune cookies) and then printed out the fortunes on red paper. That looked very Valentine-y! :)
glad you are feeling better and blogging again. I've missed your posts.
Love the picture of James..he's so darn cute! i have a couple cute ones of him from the reunion last summer i'll have to send you. he's with lance and they are so cute.
cute decorations too! and great job for making fortune cookies. that is a cool thing!
I'm so glad your back :o)
I don't know about the rest of you but I'm almost tired of playing with the monkey to the right of the screen...(captain monkeypants)although he was very entertaining :o)
At least it was something to do while I waited for you to get better.

Hey Simply!
I gave you a green dog to play with now :)!
Glad you're back and feeling more yourself. :)
Welcome back.
I love those aprons. Too nice to get messy.
James is very cute.
Chinese New Year is quite a big celebration in Sydney... we have a large Chinese population. The year of the RAT doesn't sound good, but neither does year of the PIG!! I was born in the year of the monkey...I think that means I should be smart amongst other things.
(Emily, you are not the only one without valenines decorations up - it is not such a big thing here. I think people would think I had gone mad if I tried it.)
OHHH! I promise I didn't mean to copy you with your closepinned hearts! I just now saw them--gosh. I dont' know what's worse, to admit that I didn't read this post or to tell you I promise I didn't copy you.
I am going to email you now.
I couldn't find you email. Are we okay? i am 100% about giving credit where credit is due and if I would have seen these I would have at least linked to you! I know we aren't the only two moms to do this but, it's no fun feel copied and forgotten and I'm worried that you think I'm a big fat copy cat!
I actually did see something--I think on gena's blog or someone's with a store bought garland that they hung at their mantle and that's were I got the idea.
Now you hate me because I'm rambling on and on and making a huge deal...
