park day with dad

I've been meaning to get these up for over a week now. But I guess pictures of cute kids in the park are pretty timeless, right?!

I thought the photos were so precious not only because they're of my kids faces-- thrilled to be outside again!; but also because they tell a little visual story about what happens when Mom is sick in bed and Dad takes charge of everything!----------

Cute Liam running free through the safety-specified three inches of shredded bark..............and wearing no socks.

James (wearing Liam's clothes) proves that your tongue makes a pretty handy tissue if Dad doesn't have one.
It's also perfectly acceptable to have Zane take James down the big slide.....although he apparently HATES the big slide! (I have to admit that even I laughed at this one though. That death grip on the bar is pretty pathetic--and he was happy as can be again once his feet touched the ground!)

The little boys loved Ethan pushing them on the swings. And Ethan loved that he got to wear his "FARM WORK ONLY" pants with the big hole in the knee. He says they're his most comfortable pants that don't need a belt!

Hey! Is there anyone waiting to catch this kid in case he falls?!
This faux-layered Superman shirt will surely keep Zane as warm as a jacket!

Okay....just a little more picking on Brad's MAD MOTHERING SKILLZ :o).......then we'll get to all the happy stuff!..................................

Other things my husband learned during his stint as Mr. Mom: That our new washer and dryer are a lot less complicated to operate than our old ones (I didn't know he knew how to operate our old ones--hee! hee!). That it gets really expensive to take our boys out for kids meals every day. And that no matter how thoroughly or how many times a day you pick the toys and crumbs and junk up off our floor--an hour later there it all is again!

Still, at the end of a week's worth of doing my job and his, he asked me if I wouldn't want to work my interior design business full time and he would stay home with the kids. He'd enjoyed it that much.

My answer?!........

Of course I sent him back to his office as quickly as I could and stole all the boy magic back for myself :)! There's no job in this world that I could do that would ever compare to this one. And no one I'd rather SHARE it with than my husband. Thanks again for the 5 star service Brad ***** . You totally spoiled us all Rotten!--and we love you for it!

I am totally honored to be added to your blogroll...thanks!

It does look like they had fun with dad while you were out of commission. I remember one time my mom went out of town, and I food poisoned myself with some eggs, and my dad was not the best substitute when I was throwing up. I kept asking for mom and she was three states away! I did survive, but I think he and I were both happy when she came back.

That is a great post and one that could be replicated across the US this winter with lots of sick mamas. I think we can all appreciate the efforts Dad's make, but household multi-tasking isn't their strength. Especially the part about picking up toys, crumbs, junk and repeat as necessary so you don't lose your mind!

Sissy,
You're welcome! I add anyone who takes the time to comment on a regular basis. And for anyone who comments and hasn't yet been added--I'm getting there :)!

Debbie,
I thought this one would be pretty universal too! I do love my husband for the effort, and he really did a good job--but I had to pick on him a bit to make it all a little more interesting!

I think I must be a dad at heart. My kids never have socks on and I hate picking up the crumbs and toys. BUT, I don't want the out home job, I'll stay in thank you very much. :)

My son was sitting with me while I was reading your post and he said, "Oh that little boy is sad. He doesn't want to go down the slide. He wants his mommy!" I though it was very cute! :)

I love that you husband wouldn't mind taking care of the kids. Mine goes crazy after 1/2 a day! I don't think he'd make it a whole week! :)

my husband is a mr. mom fulltime and even though he does a spectacular job...i'd rather not know about certain things...like how high my 2 1/2 year-old will climb at the park just to get to the slide (YIKES!) or the fact that their are crumbs all over the table when i get home from work....men, just see things a little bit differently than us women....but we sure love them for trying!

Aaah to be a dad! Sometimes I wish I could be more like "dad."

I was just "reinstructing" the dad at our house to please put old clothes on children that will be playing in muddy grass. But then, I know that's not even on his radar and he's just being "dad."
