a whole lotta vacation going on

We're back! We're back!! We're back!!! What a GREAT weekend! Much needed time off from work and daily busy-ness to relax. So glad our good friends the Manwarings got to join us for a weekend at the family cabin.

I usually have a lot more to say than show--but I think we might be going the opposite route this time! Have a look.....
No shortage of snow for our visit! (still about 4 feet. Spring doesn't start up here for another month or two).

The icicles were gorgeous!......and a little scary. Glad they didn't fall down on anyone :)!

Lots of snow+ cabin on a hill+one willing Mom dressed in coveralls 5 sizes too big for her=LOTS OF SLEDDING! That's Liam getting a free pull back up the driveway from me!

Brad and Zane taking their turn. Brad was pretty pleased that he broke the sledding distance record!

Zane, Ethan, and Halle digging out snow forts. I think the big kids would have stayed outside all day if we had let them--and if their shoes had stayed dry!

Liam and Carter got along GREAT! They played board games (by their own rules) and the wii almost the entire time.

Jarom and Kate enjoying a soak in the hot tub. Jarom learned the hard way that you should not to sit up against the sucking jets for too long, or you might end up with a distinct, rather painful pattern on your back that everyone would get to laugh at------ I took a picture of his interesting "hickey" but I promised I wouldn't put it up on the blog. Promise kept :o)!

Hooray for a Tom and Jerry marathon on Cartoon Network! All the kids loved it.

Elena got to sit and catch a movie on the TV. Yeah for sitting!

Brad (and I admit--me too!) were glad Jarom brought up his laptop and wireless internet. Isolated and peaceful are good....... but you still need to check your email!

Kate and James. These two strong-willed cuties couldn't decide who was going to be "the boss" this weekend-- though they both put up their best fight!

Here's Elena and I! (and see--my hair isn't THAT red!)

It's all fun and games...... till we have to spend Sunday morning cleaning the place up! (this is AFTER cleaning, by the way!)

I house stalk even while on vacation! I have always loved this colorful place. It's right on the lake (the lake that is completely frozen and covered in snow right now...). There are all kinds of cool- looking things on their screened porch, and it seems like it would just be a fun place to spend the summer. However, in all the times we've been up to the cabin--I've never actually seen anyone here. {Maybe they should just DONATE the place to me. I'm sure I'd give it all the inhabiting it deserves :) !}

Five minutes after we started for home........ 1 sleepy baby,
2 sleepy babies (this one didn't even eat the cup of popcorn he's holding!). 3 and 4 sleepy babies in the far back seat, but they decided to read rather than sleep.
And back to the valley---- where today was a lovely (and snow-less!) 50 degrees.

Hooray for a vacation! Hooray for coming home too!

Ah, vacation! There is nothing like being home in your own bed though. Looks like you had tons of fun! Where were you? It looks McCall-ish. Great hair, BTW.

Kristan-
Yes--it was McCall. The cabin is about 12 minutes out of town--between there and Donelly--at a place called Blackhawk Lake. Thanks for liking my hair too :)!

Serious,
We did have a great time in the snow....but I'm still ready for Spring!

Simply,
Glad to be back!--dirty laundry and all!

Great pictures! (LOVE the icicles!) Yes, it was SUCH a nice time. Couldn't have asked for more relaxation and that was just what we wanted. Thanks so much for letting us tag along, our kids (and Jarom and I) had such a great time. Hope you had as much fun as we did. Oh, and I too noticed that WAY cute cabin on our way out. I was slightly concerned about the amount of snow it had on top of one of the lower porches, hope it makes it too see spring. And Jarom's back hickies were too FUNNY! Even though he said not to post them, I think you should email them my way so I can keep them for posterity. :)

glad you had a good time up there. we always enjoy ourselves way too much and don't want to come home. looks like everyone had fun!

that's funny that you like that house on the lake so much. we have affectionately named it the "john deere house" because of the colors! (: I've only seen people there once, but I'm assuming they wouldn't mind if you pretended it was yours! (:

i like your hair.
Love you!

Thank you for sharing your photos! I found you on Today's Creative Blog. We are very similar....wow! I am active in my church, in politics, and in my community, and I also ran an interior design business until 5 years ago this week! I will be back to visit again soon!

PS...I love to be creative, and we always take photos of our children when we leave the vacation or get-away...they are usually sleeping a mile down the road!

Karli,
I guess it IS a bit John Deere-ish!

Kamee,
I really AM feeling better--tired still--but that's bearable! The cabin belongs to two of my brother-in-laws (one of them being Karli's dad). They have it on the market right now and we keep hoping and hoping it doesn't sell :)! Love it there! Good to hear from you again!

Dawn,
Sounds like we're birds of a feather. I'll have to come check your blog out!

So glad to see you had a relaxing (well, as relaxing as it can be with kids) vacation! Perhaps restorative would be a better word...still, you definitely had colour in your cheeks! Hooray for your return to health!!

It looks like a great weekend away. That snow is AMAZING... the photo of the hot tub with the snow behind it, the house in the middle of all that snow, the icicles. I have never seen anything like it in 'real life'.

And your hair doesn't look super red at all.
