brothers day

I bet you didn't know that today was a major holiday, did you?

Well, at least it is around here.

My kids love to make up reasons to have fun(!)---from birthday parties for their stuffed animals to celebration dinners for any old thing and all sorts of made up holidays. Two years ago they deemed June 19 to officially be Brothers Day. I thought it was a cute idea-- so I wrote it down on the calendar...and it has been celebrated ever since!

If you want to celebrate "Brothers Day" at your house---here's how my boys say to do it:
*First, make sure you have brothers.
*Next, make sure that you treat all your brothers really nice and give them lots of hugs.
*Extra computer time and no chores (I told them it was one or the other....)
* You have to dance to the brothers' favorite song (playing now).
*Brothers pick what to have for dinner (tonight it was tacos)
*You have to have dessert!
*The big brothers get to stay up and watch a movie with Mom (this time we saw Seven Brides for Seven Brothers---guess who picked that :) ).

***I think next year we'll add "airing of grievances" and "feats of strength".....

Everybody make a wish!

HAPPY BROTHERS DAY!!!

How do you dance to the Brothers Day song? I fear I would appear to be having a seizure if I tried...lol! I'm not that coordinated so I'll just enjoy listening to it...but I do like to "move it" in the privacy of my own computer room...LOL! What a cute idea, make your own holiday :) You guys (more correctly, YOUR guys) are so creative! How fun! But I think the cake is a little small... *grin* My guys will have to have a Brothers Day next year, or actually we will have to make it Sibling Day as they have a younger sister.

Blessings!

Mrs. Q--
I use to dance to 500 beat a minute hard core British techno--so "Move It" is pretty tame :)! There are a lot of attempts at break dancing moves around our house--and a lot of jump turns. Good stuff.

Hope you guys embrace "Siblings Day" !

Oh, dear...we'll have Sister's Day and we'll be playing "Dancing Queen" by Abba and spinning widly in our tiaras. We'll be painting our nails and have banana splits for lunch.

Why is this making me cry????

I think Brothers Day is a splendid idea. I love it actually. The miniture cake is delightful, and I have to say that you may have our carseat, but we have your OshKosh "fly guy" t-shirt. It's too small now, but I remember that old shirt. We pretty much have every aviation related article of clothing that a little boy could have this side of the Mississippi.

Happy Brothers Day. I am swiping this idea in July.

Oh poor Carter....can he come to your house next year? Such a cute idea. I'm in love with it. Maybe we'll just have to have sisters day and adopt a brother day. :) (My kids LOVE this song too. It was Alyssa and Halles first tap performance songe in dance.)

Oh I LOVE it! WE QUALIFY! We have brothers! It's going on my calendar right now! Thanks for the great idea! What great memories you are making for your boys!

That's one of my son's favorite songs!!! He's always singing it, "I like to move it, move it". So funny! He doesn't have a brother, so he'll just have to have brother's day with brother-in-law's one day. So funny!

Happy Brother's Day!

We will need to start brothers day here too - It is a fantastic idea! We qualify with four brothers, but I'm not sure if our one girl will feel left out, probably not - she will be happy that they are hanging out together and leaving her alone! LOL!

I love it and I love how you make everything so festive. But since I have a girl and a boy, I will have to do sibling's day, I guess. I still remember all your St. Patrick's day ideas...which by the way I am totally stealing next year.

Hi New Boots!

Another brilliant idea from Jennifer Peterson. Very cute! It was fun coming home and getting caught up on your recent posts. All very good. I too am an avid journal keeper and have been most of my life.

What a great idea! The redhead isn't a brother yet, but maybe someday in the nearer future. BTW, yummy cake. That's the one we used for redhead's 1st birthday last fall.

You always have brilliant ideas. Your boys are so cute. We have girls day that involves at home spa treatments and a girly movie. The boys need one too. Thanks for inspiring me.
