i had almost forgotten

Until I looked at the entry date on one of my comments this morning, and realized--oh. It's THAT day. 9/11. I'm sure there will be a lot of blog posts about this today---and I don't know that I can say anything more or anything better about it than anyone else. My story of where I was and what I was doing is on the comments section of Emily's blog. In fact, there are many, many powerful stories shared there and I encourage you to add yours.

Most thankful today for peace which surpasseth all understanding.

I too take a moment every year to remember. I think as a nation we need to remember and never forget.

As I was walking back from taking the kids to school I had to stop and look at all the flags that lined our street and neighborhood. The wind was softly blowing the flags and as sad as I am for the reason, I was also very proud to be an American.

Isn't it amazing how it never gets old to remember what you were doing when you heard the news? That was an amazing day. I hope to never live through something like that again. However, the way it united us as a nation is something I hope I DO live through again.

Everyone has a story about that day. Even my oldest can remember us all glued to the television.

I was truly in a quandry about what to post for today. And I decided that the greatest memorial was to continue as usual. Be reflective about who and what we are. And where we want to be. And then set out on the path for those dreams. In my own twisted way, that's what I wrote about today...

Hi Jennifer. I'm just catching up on all the posts I've missed.

9/11. I tried to explain what happened and the significance of it to my kids yesterday. It was a hard thing to do, and I am not sure they understood it at all at the end of my rambling thoughts. I think they need to grow up a bit and experience some tragedy/'badness' before they ever will.

My hellish task. Cleaning toilets.

Sorry to read that your divorce is final now. That must have been a really hard day.

My sister-in-law and her husband live in Manhattan, and she was out working and running errands that day. We were so worried about her safety, and of course, the phone lines were jammed most of the day. I was the first family member to reach her, and she said the walk back to her apartment was surreal. Soot was thick in the air, and the usually loud, bustling streets were eerily quiet as people walked home silently, in shock at what they had just experienced.

We will never forget.

Hi there! I have a quick blog question for you. How to I make a button/banner for my blog for others to grab and share my blog on their blog?

Oooooh, I was wondering all day how I was going to post about 9/11, but could never think of anything. I've been thinking about it all week, and I LOVE the way Emily did it. I think I might go to my blog right now, and just do a quick thing. I think the way she did it was just perfect. I hope she doesn't mind the copy....I'm sure not.

Thanks for the great reference to another great blog btw. I think I'll go back.

I thought that I was not hurting over the 911 thing anymore until today came and I heard the Principal at the school talking about it to the kids and I started to cry. It was such a sad time wasn't it?
