~you're all invited to my wedding~

Did I shock you? Hee. Hee. It's not really MY wedding....it's the hypothetical, inspirational wedding I told Lauren I would post about for her wedding linky day (she really is getting married!). At first all I thought I could manage was to put up a picture of a cake I liked................and then I started clicking around on Google (all hail!) images and my oh my(!!!) I was like Monica on Friends getting all obsessed about details. It is now 1:30 am and I finally have to call all the searching quits because I need to go to sleep....and also I can't really move my right hand anymore...... SO Lauren, with one hour's planning time.....this is what I would do:

Buy a fabulous vintage dress, because they just don't get any more glamorous....

and mix it with an unexpected shoe like this:

And a great strong and simple ring like this:

Hair and makeup done like this:
With these flowers to fit in with the whole orange, olive green and chocolate brown color scheme I'd have going on: With the reception looking like this:
And the cake like this (except with chocolate frosting and pretty detailing done in the orange and green....and I would TOTALLY eat it too!! :) ):

I would then pay a certain member of this band with an Omega Seamaster 300M Chronometer watch if he could convince everyone to get back together long enough to sing the Smile Lines song for the dance:

and just to prove that I'm a thrifty kinda gal, this is all we would be eating for dinner (and they're even orange!--bonus!):

Finally, we would bid all our guests adieu as we drove off in this (this is a classic 1961 Aston-Martin so there better not be a lick of shaving cream or window marker on it!):
Did I forget to mention who the groom was?! It's HIM of course:

And I want him in that outfit too! :)

Lauren--THANK YOU---that's the most fun I've had in a long time! I feel all girly now ;)! And I'm sure your wedding will be GORGEOUS!!! Can't wait to see!....

* How about you readers? Anything you'd want to add to your pretend wedding?

Circus peanuts and Sporticus, Classic! The shoes look so uncomfortable, just like cinderella's. Thanks for the chuckle.

LOLS! Ok first things first. You said 'and I want him in that OUTFIT'. I love being a girl. Can you imagine any guy saying he wanted ANYone in an OUTFIT? :)
My husband is always rolling his eyes as I put my son in 'outfits'.

The pictures you rolled out are gorgeous. A more perfect wedding could not be thought up!

The color scheme is beautiful. I really like those colors. Of course the shoes are my favorite!!!! Now, the guy..... definately change the outfit!! ha.

I WANT TO MARRY YOU! We can move to California.

That dress? Fabulous. Those shoes? I. Must. Have. Them. The circus peanuts? Oh my head, hilarious.

But dude. You cannot have Sportacus. That fella's a gymnist. You KNOW he has moves. Good moves. Uh-huh.

Let me tell you, as someone possibly pondering a REAL wedding.. it's all... very overwhelming!

I would elope and pocket the money. (they don't call me cheap for nothing!) I think that is the perfect wedding for you and they guy, well, he's hot.

Lizzie said...

girl, you absolutely crack me up! I'll be there!

Ooooooh, there's never enough time to plan the big day it seems, especially when our right hand goes numb from all of the clicking around! Congrats to your friend on her big day!

Elena said...

When you're done with that dress, and after I lose 20 lbs, I'll borrow it for my pretend wedding. LOVE IT!

Elena said...

Well, to look like that girl, I'd probably need to lose 50 lbs!

I love it! Another reason 19 year olds should not get married--they don't have enough time to dream up all that fabulous stuff! Ha! If I was doing it now. . .I'm just saying. I will probably be one of those mothers that takes over the planning of her daughter's wedding just to live vicariously!

Tamie said...

y'know that is a tough one for me b/c i actually did have my dream wedding. i loved EVERYTHING about my wedding...though, even though i really, really like my wedding pictures--i think that i would do a different photgrapher...someone a little more trendy than the guy that we had.
loved your cake and i've got to send you a link to the cake that i think you would like...it is chocolatey-fabulousness (i've got to find it again)

Themorrisbunch said...

Okay, I knew it was gonna be good with that title and you NEVER disappoint!
Love love love your mock wedding!
I loved my wedding, I'd never do it again though.
Okay well maybe I'd do it again for something like renewing our vows, but only if YOU were the planner and could find those shoes and that fantabulous cake!
And of course the wheels.
What's your hourly and would you come to WA? ;) And decorate my house while you're here too...

Let me just say...YOU GAVE YOUR STALKER A HEART ATTACK!!!! Sorry I have sucked lately in commenting...just know I am still here stalkering you! :)

What a fabulous wedding yours would be though! If I ever get married will you plan mine?!?! :)

Hope you are doing well!!! Gotta go catch up on you and all your doings!

Much love!

I LOVE circus peanuts! Can I come?

I LOVE your colors and I'm right there with you with the vintage dress. I love all of your details.....now, is his personality in real life what it is on TV? That's the real question. :)

How awesome :)

I've been reading your blog for a while now and I'm so excited that you came by today! That cake is absolutely amazing. I like the simple elegance of it....very much like the one we had. Those shoes and that dress are pretty fabulous too!

Love the dress! And that ring, wow. You have excellent taste. Well, almost. What's with the groom? I think you can do better. :)

I would add a hot-air ballon and Brad Pitt:-)

Sister Pete,

I wish we could get back together to play that song but I'm pretty sure it's not going to happen - LOL.

We started tracking the song "Smile Lines" in late 1999.
We originally planned on recording a bunch of our more upbeat songs first but after a few hours into our first recording session it became apparent that my limited drumming skills at that time were getting in the way so we decided to just do the slow songs first.

After eight hours and $400 the only track we could use was the drum track for "Smile Lines." I played bass on that song too (MusicMan StingRay with a Boss CE2 chorus box). My favorite part of "Smiles Lines" is when I drop the first snare hit at 1:19 into the song. I love that dynamic. The male voice on that song is my brother Jayd. He is not a singer but he really seemed to nail the emotion of that song. Throughout our history we called him our "Golden Goose" because he kept shooting out golden eggs (our songs).

The picture on your blog was taken after we finished our first CD in 2000. The guy who recorded and engineered it, John Sirca, took that shot in his home studio.

By the way, I'm not a big fan of Slayer either but they do have some jams that really get my blood moving...and that song is one of them. I don't know any females that like that kind of music...and that's OK! :) JON.

P.S. - Can I change the watch to an Omega Planet Ocean? Thanks!

wow!! And here I thought the perfect wedding was as simple as watching the right woman who keeps me from sleeping at night walking down the aisle to me, where I would spill my heart and soul to her in front of God and any and all witnesses who wanted to see. Everything else is just fluff. This is why most guys have very little to do with the ceremony planning, I guess. But to plan my own wedding would take me quite some time to pick all the details.

Perfect! And I'm sure you're paying for it too right?! haha

And a fabulous invitation to this event....Of course sent to me :)

You are to funny..
I love that cake and that ring..

I think the most high-class honeymoon would be in order after a celebration such as that!

Oh, and gosh darn it, I love those paper globe lights!

Tiffany said...

Those shoes actual have me drooling.

And feeling a little fluttery.

Thanks for that.

Carrie said...

Um...you didn't show pictures of my bridesmaid dress.
I love the menu. And your dress rocks. The groom on the other hand. We are gonna need to talk about his attire.

How fun is this!!! I love imaginary celebrations. I loved my wedding too but I would change my hair. The tight ringletty up-do was just a little stuffy. That's what happens when that's one of the last minute details.
I Love, love, love your cake. Your groom's very appetizing as well. I can appreciate me a little Lazy Town Sporticus. :)
Still working things out with Mindy to get together. Will let you know.

"The Queen in Residence" said...

I so want to come to your wedding, what fun it would be, even eating a bunch of circus peanuts for dinner would be amazing!!! But the groom.... that was the best.

I love weddings especially ones that really reflect the personality of the people getting married.

Debbie said...

Seriously...how can you add to that perfection! Everything was absolute gorgeous. I wouldn't change a thing...well, I'm not sure about Sporticus....but everything else is fabulous...those shoes...that dress...that bouquet. Wow!

Now my hope for you is that you get to have that dream wedding some day! You so deserve it.

Heather said...

That dress is SPECTACULAR!! Seriously. I'm not getting married, I just want that dress. I'm seriously getting you an autographed picture of Sporticus. I'm going to have him write, "To my bride. Love, Sporticus"

Keys to the Magic Travel said...

I love your pretend wedding. Love the bouquet. Very very much. And the wedding dress. I'd like a dress like that. Well...not in white. But I love it. I think I'd fall on my face in the shoes. Of course they don't make a version for those of us with Fred Flinstone feet...

Aubrey said...

Ooh, I wish you'd been my mom when I got married--your taste is so much more modern and cooler! (Don't tell hershe thinks my wedding was so nice--but I had to fight against lace in the wrong places on my dress, a veil, and the classic Mormom-mixed-nuts-and-dinner-mint cup. Gag. And store-bought cake cut in dinky peices. Nothing screams we're poor and having our wedding reception under basketball hoops faster!) Let's not remember my wedding.

Maritez said...

Oooh, love them all...I definitely need a pair of those shoes!

Rhea said...

That's awesome! I love your virtual wedding, what a fun idea!!

Now what would your bridesmaids wear?!

Alice said...

O.K. I'm not alone in my wish for the bridesmaid outfits. And what would the boys wear? I never know what to put my boys in for an afternoon wedding...You may have another career in your future.

Jennifer P. said...

You silly people wanting bridesmaids dresses---I like my friends waaay too much to do that to them! They can all wear their favorite jeans and a whit t-shirt---because no matter how "chic" and "wearable-again" they advertise those bridesmaids dresses as, they are still soooooo ugly! And soooooo expensive :)!

Emily said...

Sporticus! I love it!

Anonymous said...

I love that dress.

For my pretend wedding I would have a DJ playing the songs on my playlist and an open chocolate bar(instead of alcohol!!).

Mrs. X said...

Perfection! I only hope none of your groom's big foam headed friends show up. They seriously FREAK me out! Will the honeymoon be in his flying ship thing? Nothing like sailing off into the clouds with the man of your dreams ;)

tallulah said...

All I have to do is wink at my husband and he dons a Sporticus outfit and waits for me in the bedroom. I'm so glad someone else appreciates that look as much as I do!

Melissa Lester said...

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I am putting it on my calendar. I'm amazed you pulled it together so quickly. I guess it was easy once you narrowed the groom down, although I don't know how you narrowed it down from Lars and the dancers. I think you made the right choice, though, and aren't you relieved to know upfront that Spartacus isn't from Lazytown? He'll do flips for you when you hand him a honey-do list!

Jen @ tatertotsandjello.com said...

You are SOOOOO funny! I love that your groom is Spartacus guy. I have a new show that you need to watch -- it's called Imagination Movers - check out the guy with the long hair and goatee!

I thought this post was so funny because my friends and I were just talking about our wedding dresses last night and lamenting about how horrid all of our dresses were as we look at them now. It's fun to see what you chose. I think we all deserve a "do-over" once we are old enough to really know what we really like. Loved your post!!!

If I had to redo my wedding, the only thing I would change is to invite you and Sparticus to it. :)

And thanks for the comment about the pixie haircut :) It makes me feel SO much better about it!

Good grief...why I am the only one who doesn't know who in the world Sporticus is? I mean I seem him, that little hottie, but who is he?
Don't worry, if your band can't make it, I'll sing, and be the bridemaid, and mix the punch and .....

Miki said...

i know i already commented above from a while ago, but do you know that Sportucus has entered my brain a time or two this week because of this post? lol...I told you I thought he was sexy. I don't care what everyone else says....mmmmmm. He should come and be with us silly girls just for fun. OOoooh, I wish there was a way to contact him and let him in on all of the bloggy chat about him!

Jenny said...

The dress is divine!!!

I love the reception too.

Thank you for sharing your life with all of us. P.S. I love your choice of groom. He's a hottie and has great moves - watched him many times myself. :)

the fact that this photo made it onto your blog blows my mind. i am the bloated guy in the band photo with the side burns on the end. whoa, i confess i did eat a lot of Der Weinerschnitzel back then. the arrogants can play, i think we all need a vacation, anyway.

Dex said...

Instead of marrying Sporticus, you should consider marrying Robbie from Lazytown, he's a real hit with the ladies as well.

Just a couple of comments on the Lazytown wedding:

1. The car is amazing, an excellent choice I would of never thought of.
2. Consider having ribeye steaks and asparagus wrapped in bacon for dinner -- I would be there.
3. The ring is very cool.
4. Consider putting the Arrogants (2008 version) on a fitness program a year or so prior to the reception.
