We braved our way to the Wal*Mart this week---
and found huge decorated Christmas trees at the entrance, 'Little Drummer Boy' blaring over the sound system, and a motorized toy Santa teeter-tottering with reindeer in the produce section. Apparently we have skipped November this year?.... Guess I'm a Christmas "purist". I think it should stay Autumn until Thanksgiving is over, and
THEN you start to deck the halls and fa la la la la.
Anyway---here are some of the STILL Autumnal-like things we've been up to the past TWO weeks:
We got to do Make Your Own Pumpkin Pizzas the day before Halloween. Liam was a great help---
even with his bare feet that close to the food we would put in our mouths :) .
Ready to go in the oven.
Is it just me or is it hard to eat stuff with a face? I don't think I've
ever eaten a chocolate Easter bunny in my life. Gummy bears are probably my only exception, and even then, I eat them feet first....

According to the *Jennifer P. cool house ranking system*, this was the coolest Halloween house on the block--
it won last year too! I wonder where they store all that stuff the other 364 days of the year?!

Liam and I made up a
stoopid (that means cool!) dance routine to the Lazytown 'Bing Bang' song. Ethan thought it was funny enough to take our picture!
I'm training him to do SYTYCD in another 14 years!

Ethan had an
"invention convention" in his classroom last week. I had to help him construct an invention using at least two simple machines. He picked a
-jelly bean machine-, and although I helped in the cutting and assembling, he did most of the work himself. It was quite the source of entertainment around here for a few days
! (and I picked up jelly beans out of all the corners for about as long :) !).

We have been really into
Yo Gabba Gabba! around here lately. L and J were more than happy to model their new sweatshirts. I know they're
my kids and all...
but they're pretty darn cute :)!
********
That's all I got to show... for 2 weeks! Such is life!

i'll have to translate that when i go to work tomorrow (it's 12:20 am now). didn't i tell you that i know the guys that created and do Yo Gabba Gabba? they are from my stake (Placentia California Stake). my nephew Nathan was one of the dancer kids in a new episode about three weeks ago (i'll have to check and see which episode).
Um.... if you know secret languages, is it really a good idea to go broadcasting that fact around on your shirt?
Now we all know you do. Of course, we don't know what they are, or where you learned them, but hey.... we still know. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Those are great fall picutres!! I think that there should be a law against Christmas stuff going up before Thanksgiving.
lovin' the foot pizza, it's my fav! Oh yeah, and inventions are huge at my house too, my son is currently into "spy gadget inventions" have a great weekend!!
ok,
so...
i have to admit that...
i don't know what yo gabba gabba is.
I know secret languages, too. ;)
I have to admit, I am a Christmas gal. I don't love the Christmas-takes-over-the-garden-center part because, this is our garden growing season, not to mention that I am the Thanksgiving House every year! I'm all about not seeing the Christmas decor for sale until after Thanksgiving, too, but bring on the music! I love it! I'm already listening to the Christmas songs in my house. My neighbor puts up her Christmas decor November 1 every year. She has 5 Christmas trees in her house, already, plus all of the blow ups outside and she's just waiting for the weekend to get those lights up. LOVE IT.
Speaking of loving things, I love the jelly bean machine, and the yo gabba gabba dancing. Sounds like my house. We are crazy-fun lovers!
Where was Sportacus when all the dancing was going on? He could have dipped you like he dips Stephanie. You know, since you love him and all.
that is seriously a butt-load of pumpkins on that lawn...i think i would ask where those pumpkins get stored (they probably have to rent a storage unit to stoer it all in...)
Cute pics!
Christmas starts pretty early where I live too. When November comes, expect people to start decorating their trees. In addition, stores are filled with HUGE Santas and Christmas trees (oh and the Christmas music is constant too!). But that would be because November is when our weather starts getting cold and our thanksgiving is in October rather (I live in Canada).
Hey, I have never heard of pumpkin pizza? Is the dough pumpkin-ish or something?
Wow you can even choreograph dances too! You are so talented. I want to learn that one. What a super stoopid mom you are.
I agree, it is NOT Christmas time yet. I want my Fall time and Thanksgiving!!!
Don't rush me.
Love the foot pizza! Kids, they don't care.
Great pictures. Have a great weekend.

I don't understand the rush of Christmas either, but yet since Thanksgiving is SO late this year.....
I love the dance.. we need video though.
Love the pizza :) I heard Christmas music on Walmart in Oct.
What in the world is a Yo Gabba Gabba? Love the pizza and I am a Christmas purist too (I did buy a tree for the basement the other day but it is tucked into a corner of the garage to be unveiled the day AFTER Thanksgiving.
The house down the street and around the corner from me. My kids love it. It's crazy, they only start decorating a week or so before Halloween, and it doesn't seem like any bratty teenagers destroy them or anything, which I know we have a few of in our neighborhood.
Michael's was putting up their Christmas aisle at the beginning of October, I told the ladies that it just didn't seem right, although I did get my Christmas music down and bought a few new CD's at Target a few days ago. It was funny, they have all the Christmas stuff out, and then at the back of the aisles they have the clearance Halloween stuff. Nobody was looking at Christmas stuff, but there were women going crazy over the Halloween leftovers.
You have the cutest boys, Ryan had a great time watching them the other night. I guess it's telling when he would rather watch your boys than hang out with his uncle and go to Olive Garden with us :)
Yep, Christmas must wait until at least the week of Thanksgiving. I can't even think Christmas until I get through all the birthdays this time of year. (You're probably the same.)
Man, such good music today. Makes me want to get up and clean or do something productive.
Oh, and I can't stand Yo Gabba Gabba. Ugghhh...it drives me nuts, but Carter and Kate are fascinated by it. And they walk around singing songs from it all the time. Did I tell you the time I saw Jan from the Office on there as a guest? Too weird for me.
that pumpkin pizza is pretty adorable! and i LOVE that you have a hard time eating things with faces. lol. thanks for the laugh!
Love your pizzas. :)
Your kids are cute - and I'm not biased.
And your house looks so clean! How do you do that?
Great pictures! I am laughing at the foot by the pizza! I'd still eat it if the foot was IN the pizza! You and your boys look like you have the best time!
Okay, I had somepin' to say until I got completely distracted by the fact that the first two commenters on your list were MEN!!! Not only that, but you know that one of them blew up your picture to get a closer look at what was written across your shirt.....
Yes, I'm blatently talking about this! I don't know if I'm so comfortable with all of this "shirt looking". I had to go back to your picture and enlarge it myself just to see what the heck he was talking about! ugh....
Protective bloggy friend can't keep her mouth shut.
Hobby Lobby said it was Christmas in August (or was it July?)--no kidding. I'm with you, girlfriend, they're going overboard on the getting ready early thing.
Your boys ARE stinking cute. As are the ottomans they're standing on. What material are your countertops made from? I'm still dreaming about getting rid of our blue beauties. All 6 feet of them. That's no exaggeration.
Ooh, and I'm dying to know what you're saying to your "friend". I wish I were as cool as you.
You're such a fun mom!
I have to admit I like all the Christmas fanfare. I just don't think one month of it is enough! There's a radio station here that started playing Christmas music before Halloween!
And I love the dance. The second picture kinda looks like you're falling down! Bust a move, sister!
Jennifer,
YOU ROCK! I've been following your blog ( including reading archives "sniff") all week. I'm not lurking, I must confess that I think I've reached the tipping point into the "stalking" arena! Most importantly, my boys think you ARE B-O-M-B!...and there are FIVE, count them, F-I-V-E of them...I'm a bit ahead of you in the game ( almost-20 down to just-turned-7). After this weekend, I will show you why they think you're about the coolest mom on the internet! ;0/ (That is, if I can figure out how to post a picture to you directly) hmmmm...Friends have been asking me to start a blog for some time...my computer skills are next to void...so I'm working on it. Have an as yet unpublished blog I'm working on...will "keep you posted" as I'm hoping you're going to "come on over" once the Domestic Diva Diary: My Life in 3-D is up and cookin' with gas, baby! We have a lot in common and a lot that's not! I SEE A GREAT CYBERSPACE FRIENDSHIP BREWING HERE! You, my dear, are a true GEM in a FAUX JEWEL WORLD!
Smooches,
The Domestic Diva ;0)
Once again...having much trouble opening your (and Kat's) blog!!! Love your little dance with Liam and way to go Ethan!!! My boys would have been all about shooting jelly beans! And that picture of Liam and James in their YoGabbaGabba shirts...THE CUTEST!!!! Oh yea, your kitchen is waaaaay too clean my friend :) Have a great weekend! Lots of good college football games :)
Pizza, dancing, jellybeans flying and Yo Gabba Gabba -- could it get any more fun than that? Just reading Yo Gabba Gabba brings the lyrics, "Jumpy jump jump jump jump jump" to my mind," where I'm sure they'll be dancing around in my brain for the rest of the night!
Yes I agree Christmas should start after Thanksgiving. It just brings on more stress!! :)
The pumpkin house.....they have done that for years, and every year it has gotten better. They used to start decorating the beginning of October and put out more each day until some of their stuff was vandalized. Now they just put it out a week or so before. It has always been fun to see. About February it all goes up into their attic. And no, I am NOT Mrs. Cravits (sp?) :)
Your boys are so cute...and they sure do have a rockin' mama! =)
What a fun post! I love to see pictures of funny dances and cool inventions.
I agree with you, Christmas should not start til AFTER thanksgiving. But they're probably hoping that they can get us to buy Christmas presents before the economy completely crashes.
Your boys are so funny.
How does not love the lazytown song.
I love the fact that you danced the stoopid dance. It takes a silly mom to do the dance. It takes a brave mom to allow her child to take pictures of it. But it takes an ultra-cool-stupendous mom to post those pictures on her blog proudly! I loved the invention! I think it is really excellent that the boys were using it and supporting their brother. Lastly, if I got rid of all the crap-ola in my garage, I'd have space for those pumpkins. At least that would be something I would pull out and use once a year as opposed to the questionable items littering my garage for the last 3 years.
I am celebrating Nov. too....not quiet ready for Christmas. Love the photos!
So great to see all of those photos! Sure looks like things are as fun as ever in the Petersen household...you look great, by the way!
I am one of those people who obsess about Christmas in November, however I probably won't actually put any decorations up until the very end of the month. I'm in Christmas shopping mode instead...
Hope you're having a great weekend!
Linda
Your life is much more exciting than mine!
I love the orange walls-or are they red. Cheery nonetheless.
Cute post! I am in no hurry for Christmas either. Thanksgiving is one of my favs. You cook food, watch football (preferably the Horns beat the Aggies), and share good time with friends. Why do we want to rush that?
I so have to admit that I bought two Christmas items already. I bought those electric candle arches that go in the windows. I saw them and know that they were hard to find later in the season. Call me a hypocrite :)
I was so mad to walk into Target the day after Halloween and see all the Christmas stuff up...I know retaillers are trying to drum up business, but come on!!! And can we hang out at your house in the mornings..dancing away with Spartacus....And the You Gabba Gabba guys... Have your boys gotten into Sid the Science kid on PBS yet. My kids both like it...
Please apply for a patent on the Jelly Bean Machine...I don't want to see the royalties go to anyone but your son's college tuition:)
Ok...what's the secret code???
I love seeing what your family is up to each week, granted I'm a little slower these days because our internet doens't work at home, but you and your boys are just so darn cute.
It makes me hopeful, that when and if it so happens that I'm destined to be a mother of all boys-- and seeing how boys DO run very strongly on both sides-- that I will still somewhat normal and sane. :o)
Oh and I loved Liam's hand waving in the primary program.
You have orange walls in your kitchen????? Love it!
one of our local radio stations is already playing Christmas music. i for one think it's ridiculous.
My two younger ones and I are CRAZY for the Bing Bang song. I love Lazy Town! I want to visit there! LOL
