raise your hand if you loved the karate kid

Wasn't that an iconic movie? The old car (wax on, wax off), the Bananarama music, the crane kick--loved all of it! I remember spending an entire week of summer when I was 13 watching nothing but Karate Kid (and Grease) over and over and over and over while snacking on Super Rope licorice. Aaaaah....those were the days......

I realize it's a lot to ask of a blog reader to watch a 7 minute, 45 second long You Tube video, but if you haven't seen it---you will. LOVE. IT. (and it just gets better the more times you watch it!) They actually got all the original Kobra Kai guys to be in the video-- and Karate Kid himself makes an appearance at the end. (And--he's still got *it* too :) !).

If you don't feel like watching the video--then just enjoy the same song on my music player as you comment and tell me where I can shove my too long You Tube clips!

Aaaaw--I Love you too :)!

*thanks for the link Mr. Sulky!

Big thanks to Carrin:

and Jori-O! :
Love the awards! Thanks for thinking of me!!!

Ok I didn't watch Karate Kid enough to get it (HAHA). But I did think he was, like, totally CUTE at the end of the video ;)

"PUT HIM IN A BODY BAAAAAAG!"

I love Karate Kid. Love it.

My brother has a Cobra Kai t-shirt that he wore while on our flight to Vegas last month. I kid you not, people were falling over themselves on the plane & in the airport to ask him if he was a "real" Cobra Kai, or to say, "I didn't know that place was even real!"

My brother is all big and buff--and it killed him to answer all these inquiries by responding, "It's just a shirt from the movie."

There's my Karate Kid story for you. Glad I shared?

great video. i think the karate kid looks hotter now then back in... what was it 1984? don't tell my 80's self that though, she'd be pissed :) you always have great undiscovered or forgotten music on here. thanks for helping me keep my "cool."

have a great week

Ok, don't have time to watch it now, but I will come back with all my boys and huddle around the screen and toast to you. This is too funny because I little while back we wanted to watch a family night movie and I found all three Karate Kid VHS's at a yard sale for .50, and we watched them all (not at one sitting, of course. :).
And yes, I still have a VCR because do you know how many awesome movies people are "giving" away because they don't want the clutter. ;)

Oh, how I loved Ralph Macchio! I mean seriously loved him.

We have the same birthday, which is tomorrow. So the timing of your post is perfect! Happy birthday, Ralph! I still love you, baby!

I remember loving the Karate Kid but I can't remember enough about it to get that video. But who cares. The red brief roller blading bit was enough to make my day. Thanks!

I was kind of little when the movie came out but when I did get to watch it with my friends' older siblings, I remember having a bit of an affection for the Karate kid. Probably along with everyone else.

Poor Johnny. I agree. Mr. Macchio is much better now. That was awesome! Thanks for sharing.

Raising hand...

I tried to get Katie to watch it when her piano teacher suggested she practice the wax on, wax off to strengthen her wrists for some piece.

My kids are all about hating whatever I suggest that they watch...

Okay, I am quite sad because I did not get to watch your youtube video since my computer is messed up....:(

I'll try later perhaps :)

Don't have lots of time, cuz we're in the library, but just wanted to compliment on the roller disco halloween outfit. Killer wig. Maybe you should go blond... but only if it's complete with the curly afro! You're boys were cute too.

Good video and I loved the guitar solo during their fight on top of the trailer. All things eighties, huh?? Teach your young 'uns to rock like you, Curl Girl!! GB!!

yes, loved the karate kid!

Thank you for the kind words and the kind kick in the rear to get out of my funk.
I'm feeling better and hoping the next funk time doesn't come around again too soon.

Get out of my life funk creature!

OMG- or should I say like for sure!!! Loved karate kid. Even tried to make a shower costume one year!!! Saw Karate Kid II at a drive-in in New York. Thanks for letting me re-live my youth, oh wait I was only 2 when Karate Kid came out, right? Har Har!!

I loved it. So much rooting for the underdog!!! I too watched it over and over again and again. I loved that and will be watching that again and again and again.

That was sooooo good!!!! I really found myself smiling through the whole video. It was just such a perfect way to portray those guys, and really, they made the blonde guy look so good too. What a good sport he was to do that scene at the end with those red speedo lookin' shorts. You can tell, if you look beyond the characature portrayal, he is really a nice guy in person.

I honestly don't think I've seen a treat like that in quite a while. We "older folks" can appreciate going back and living in your prime. What a fun time they must have had making that little video. Thanks for sharing it with us. A Gem.

the Karate Kid is one of my all time favorite movies. Daniel-san was such a dork and he got his butt kicked so many times by the Kobra Kai goons...and in the end good prevailed and Daniel-san got the girl. I love it. I will always remember the Kobra Kai mantra "strike first, strike hard, no mercy sir!" as long as i live. glad to see that you appreciate this movie too.

Okay that was awesome, I can't wait to show the man - one of our little things that we do is say "your the best...around" because of that song from the movie and we both have it on our iPods ;) That was awesome that they got the real guys, and they all still look great!

Oh I loved those movies! I need to Netflix them and watch them with my kids. I forgot how great they are...and Ralph baby is even older than I am!!! HA HA HA HA!!

I adored Karate Kid! To this day I say to my children, "You do, YES - you do, NO - you do, GUESS SO = SQUISH just like grape". My heart still races when I see him running towards that chain link fence just hoping this time he'll make it over before getting a beat down. It makes me fear bullying for my youngens.
I'm so glad I found you. I don't remember which blog I read a comment by you, but you mentioned playing video games - so I had to check you out. My husband makes them, and I love almost any kind of game. Thanks for the flashback to a beloved movie!!

I still remember what I wore to see "Karate Kid" in the theater for my sister's birthday. We loved that movie, and my sister was determined to marry Ralph Macchio. Now I want to rent the movie to share with my children. Only I'm not sure the boys could watch it without breaking each other's bones!

I just came back to watch the video again....tee hee. It was that good.

Cool blog!

I'm getting my children (9 & 6) tuned in to all those great 80's movies - K Kid, Gremlins, etc.

We're also known to jam to some 'Manic Monday' and 'Mickey' on the way to school in the mornings... Nothing like a little Bananarama or the GoGo's to get the day moving!

I totally watched the whole thing! Ha ha...what ELSE do I have to do? Very ha ha...

My fave was the end. I think I'm gonna have to shaaaare that video.
