monday fotos...because I did more this week than Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving kind of hogged up Friday Fotos, so I'm extending all the *photo love* for another day! Here's what we've been up to this week!:

This is the back of the door in Liam's room. I love that he draws pictures of himself and me together--and I'm looking so thin too ;)!

I got to get out the cup I painted last year, wash it out, and put it to use. A cup of hot cocoa and teddy grahams was the perfect thing for breakfast on a freezing morning. It makes me happy just to look at this picture--joy in the simple things.
I have a great group of single friends that I hang out with. Last week we did funny movie night at my house. "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" Such a classic! Here's a picture of us doing random pointing (notice the two empty halves of a coconut on the ottoman? We had to do a little role playing!)

Here I am in my "Holy Handgrenade" t-shirt. What I found hilarious about that night was.......well, do you remember what you use to do in a dark room with members of the opposite sex when you were in high school? Yeah---well when the room gets dark filled with 30 something single adults.....everyone goes to sleep! Seriously--everyone but Shawn (on the piano bench) crashed the last 20 minutes of the movie!

James came out in this garb he'd dressed himself in the other morning and told me he "was ready to ride the 4 wheeler!" I love that he'd improvised a helmet out of a plastic tote :)! He's a smartie pants for sure!

More easy entertainment for boys: give them dish gloves and hammers and send them out to break up the ice on the hot tub cover. (the teenage girls that lived in the house before us used to sunbathe on the cover and have left it with two "lakes"!---lovely!)

Took Zane and some of his friends out to a rather eccentric-- but delicious-- local pizza place (run by hippies) for a late birthday party. We got to make our own pizzas, and hang out in the back room by ourselves..... with an assortment of hats! A great time was had by all!

They also got to add to the giant tin foil ball being assembled at the pizza place:

More fun stuff came to me in the mail! It SO PAYS to know someone from my second favorite band in the whole world........who sends me special CD/DVD collections.......and makes it so I couldn't stop singing or dancing all weekend. I am such a groupie :) .

A Ok'ajj Q'ieiee A'k Iaiukiopniafhiee !

And for the many of you who asked:

PUMPKIN PIE COBBLER W/ CINAMMON-CARAMEL WHIPPED CREAM

1 can pumpkin pie mix

2 eggs

1/2 can of evaporated milk

Mix and pour into a 9x13 pan. Sprinkle one dry yellow cake mix over the top, and dot with one stick of butter cut into cubes. Cook for 45 minutes at 350 degrees, or until top is golden brown.

Whipped Cream:

You'll have to improvise this according to how sweet you like it, because I never measure! But mix with your heavy cream about 1/2 cup of brown sugar (that's what makes the caramel taste), about 1 tablespoon of cinammon, and 1 tablespoon of vanilla.

~You're welcome~ :)

Haha...plastic box for a helmet, that is very cute AND creative!

When I went to school, we had to be in a "dark room" quite a bit (watching "educational" movies) with the opposite sex a lot...especially during the weeks before holidays. But since the teacher was KIND OF around, the guys just heald hands with "their" girl...hehe. And then some of my classmates got in trouble with trachers and parents because the girls were hugging the boys too much! Yep, small school!

I love the mug! There's nothing quite like a good cup of hot cocoa.

I love the 'helmet', kids are priceless. And the mug is perfect; I love hot chocolate on a cold day. Have a great week!

See, I can't get past the coconuts. Because I saw 'em and now all that fills my brain is, "You've got two coconuts and you're beatin' 'em together..."

Oh, we will watch this movie together. One day soon. Yes, we will.

"What you going to do, bleed on me?"
(Hsd to throw that in.)

so fun - the 4-Wheeling garb is my favorite :) what fun, CREATIVE kids you have!

You always have so much fun. I love the drawing. Jacob likes to wear helmets everywhere, even when he is walking to the park. Safety first.

Your mug is so neat! The plastic box for a helmet is just hilarious! Your upbeat post and pictures made me smile this gloomy Monday - thanks. :)

Hilarious that you all fell asleep. You bunch of old fogies! And I love Liams little people drawings. So adorable.

What a fun week it looks like you had :) I was cracking up about the comment about what you used to do in a dark room...as opposed to now!! Too funny! Gosh you are such a cutie...I sure wish I knew someone really great in Utah...KIDDING! I remember making that mistake once :) Never again! IDAHO!!! Oh yea, just let me know when you are comin' to steal my puppy :) I want to make sure the house is clean and maybe pick up of those orangey marshmallow peanut things you like so much!! Are we bloggers crazy?? Isn't it crazy that I know and remember you like those??!! Awesome! (I am lovin' that new puppy of mine :) You can come any time...but we would all put up a big fight for him!) Happy December to you!!

Oh, I want to know that secret language of yours bad!
So you basically had a slumber party. How fun!
I've missed your blog this past week.
Looks like you kept going on without me. You can't do that!

Fun hats! I suppose I'm including the "helmet" in that, too!

Cute pictures--looks like you had a ton of fun! And hot chocolate and teddy grahams?? YUMMY!

Oh I love the chalkboard door. Is it that cool paint? My son would so dig that.

My kids would want to go ALL THE TIME to the pizza joint, just to check out the foil ball!

Mmmmm... that hot chocolate and chocolate teddy grahams looks delicious. I swear I never have craved Teddy Grahams, but since Quincy devoured yours at church they sound so good.

We love the Flying Pie Pizzeria... and that tin foil ball gets bigger all the while.

Oh... and for some reason Quincy doesn't fear Santa, he does however have some minor issues with men who have dark mustaches. Funny huh? Maybe it's because he's fat, or has a white beard?, maybe he was just too tired and delerious to really notice who was holding him. Regaurdless, we're happy the picture turned out.

Oh the conclusions my mind was jumping to when you brought up watching a movie in the dark with members of the opposite sex--falling asleep is not what i expected, but makes sense.

That is the best pizza in the world and that back corner booth looks familiar--maybe because we sat in it. I'm such a goon.

Did I miss the Nutella brownie pumpkin pie recipe? or is that a secret one?

Thanks for the recipe!!

And the Holy Grail. I need to watch it again. And see if I can get Katie hooked on it yet. Or if I need to wait a bit.

And I love that Staci remembers you love circus peanuts. Because I totally called you out on that a few days ago in one of my posts :-)

Coolest ball of tin foil ever!

funny thing is that the 30's are definitely NOT the 20's....i fall asleep all the time when we watch movies at home (drives my sister nuts!)
my husband has been accompanying a friend of his to a "club" in weeks past. and one night he was out pretty late, er, um, early....the next day he has the nerve to say: i just don't think that i can do this any more...to which i reply with a HUGE smirk: you're not 23 any more....you just can't do that sort of thing and get away with it like you used to ---did that deter him, NO WAY!!! :)

I am definitely going to make that recipe, and I am not a pumpkin lover. BUT that sounds GOOD! I enjoyed all of your recent posts. AND thanks for comment "love!" ;-)

In the last two months my marriage has turned around completely. Just because Josh was "home" didn't mean things felt right. They are starting to feel RIGHT!

Always praying.......

Yes! Love the helmet! That is so something I can relate to~my boys do that kind of stuff all the time.
Monty Python, eh? Hee Hee Hee
Love that movie.
You look absolutly smashing in Liam's abstract chalk drawing ;)

By the way, I read this blog post and realized more clearly that I do in fact need to become an English teacher or a professor of linguistics. That's all I'm going to say. *biting lip*

It looks like you had a great weekend! I love your son's outfit with the helmet -- so funny!

So many memories of watching that movie with college friends, and acquiring many "flesh wounds" in the process. :)

I was at that pizzeria two weeks ago while I was in town! And I too love a good cup of hot chocolate. I even make homemade marshmallows this time of year (I posted the recipe on my recipe blog).

And I am loving the Arrogants too.

And speaking of watching movies in the dark--my husband can stretch one movie three or four nights. He gets tired and says, "Let's watch the rest tomorrow." It drives me crazy! I need movies in one sitting.

Love the chalkboard paint on the back of the door!! My kids would LOVE that. An excuse to draw on the walls and NOT get yelled at!! What more could you ask for?

LOL about falling asleep. My 50 year old mom has more energy than I do these days! In my 20's my kids were small and fun and didn't seem to sap all my energy. Now that they're older and argue all the time and make me think... I'm just completely exhausted all the time!! Maybe when they're all grown up I'll be able to keep up with my mom again!! Of course I'd rather keep them small forever. Who needs to spend all night out on the town anyways? Home is where it's happenin'.

Thanks for visiting my blog yesterday. I was totally cracking up over the snow white comment!!

Liz Harrell said...

These pictures look so fun! And yeah, I've started falling asleep during movies too. No idea how it started, but the other night I was snoozing on the couch, in front of the tv at 7:30. I woke myself up snorting like my DAD. Oh my gosh.

Nothing beats the Monty Python & Holy Grail!!! You must have had a great fun night! (I like the Pythons especially because they have that Finland song! lol)

Liam's drawings are so cute! And James' helmet... It is such a blessing to have such lovely little ones around to cheer you up unexpectedly like that!

Thanks for visiting my blog!
Love Ida

Your so cool, you had 30 people over. I don't even know 30 people IRL!! lol I'm also pretty sure that many people wouldn't fit in my house. It gets crowed with the 3 that show up for New Years:)

I think that my teeth are hurting on that pumpkind goodness.

So fun and now I have to go watch that movie. See I knew that there was another reason that I like you. Anyone that truly enjoys Monty Phyton is a kindred spirit.♥

I come from the planet of people with legs stuck to my face too, according to my son. We're probably related.

Isn't it awesome to have a group of friend that just "get" you?! They look like a really great bunch of friends. You are blessed.

Monty Python - too many quotes bombarding brain!
