friday fotos--did you even know we were on vacation?

You all remember Jennifer P. right? That girl who use to comment EVERY WHERE, EVERY DAY?!?! Sorry if you haven't heard much from her lately...she's been a *little busy*. Catching up on blogs this weekend is top of my list. Can't wait to hear what everyone's been up to and thinking--and thanks for continuing to read and comment even when I haven't been so much returning the favor. Last week my excuse for not commenting was that.....we were actually on vacation! My pre-scheduled posts probably fooled ya though, right :) ?!

Every year, Brad's family ( and the running joke is that I got his family in the divorce!--I still claim every one of them as my own!) goes up to this great little touristy town in the mountains and stays at the family cabin and/or the condos we have time shares on.

This year while there we did ice skating.....

Due to the fact that Ethan kicked me HARD in the calf with his ice skate blade while I was trying to help him lace up (I still have the bruise!), I mostly just sat and watched....and tried to stay warm!....
I also spent a great deal of time with Liam and James in the game area at the skating rink. I love that they still think they're "playing" the games....even when I've put no money in them :)!
Ate at the Pancake House where they make homemade cinnamon rolls as big as your head!

We had our early Peterson family Thanksgiving--
Here' s one of the haphazard pictures I took out the window while driving. It's pretty though :) (I hope certain women are enjoying these pictures. They might like to come check it out sometime....)

---------------------
It seems that we are always a magnet for the neighborhood animals around here. Would you look at the size of this dog?! We kept him and his "playmate" (the Basset Hound) for a few hours until their owners came to pick them up. They had escaped from their back yard.
The neighbor's cat thinks it needs to live with us too. I let Ethan play with her for an hour then put her back outside. It's actually kind of nice getting to just play with the animals and then give them back to their owners. No shedding problems. No poop clean up. No vet or food bills. Love it!

I could NOT get this next picture to rotate---but look anyway.....

I got roses this week.....from an admirer.....who shall remain secret.....except it's totally a guy :) . Don't read too much into it--we're not. Just kind of nice to have a friend who knows that I like flowers, and that one of my favorite colors is orange (note the vase), and that I think surprises are awesome. Yup.
~Happy Weekending!~

Normally, I'd silently enjoy your writing skills, but since I'm here at this unholy hour.....I'll comment. I LOVE how intriguing the flowers are...and how they appear at the end of you blog like a happy face.....

Thanks for sharing your world....your vacation recap reminds me of 'The Great Outdoors' meets 'Ice Princess' or some such family movie combo......

May that 'vacation' feeling linger like the botox in Lisa Rinna's face....(I still love her lips!)

Ugh,.....of course I meant YOUR blog...not you blog... (see my last comment)

but may I add that the sign in the kitchen where your family is gathered.....is SO poignant!

When I first found you and read through most of your posts. Recently I thought "How is Jennifer going to be during the holidays" And I thought of the vacation with Brads family. I am glad you are still a part of it. I was worried about and thinking of you!

Aw..I love the pictures of the getaway. and your roses are beautiful. You're such a good mom, too. If I got kicked with an ice skate I'd venture to say that activity would be over. Have a good day!

Your flowers are BEAUTIFUL. (I like oragne too, it is so cheerful)
I am glad you had a good time on your vacation.
I am so happy that you are still included in Brad's family. That is awesome. Especially when kids are involved. They obvioulsy live by the words on the sign.
FAMILIES ARE FOREVER.
Have a great weekend.

That place looks familiar. :) Looks like you guys had a great time. Cute dogs! I love the big ones. I have one of my own. The flowers are beautiful. But I'm with Jori-o. A little suspicious. Have a great weekend.

Looks like a fabulous time. Hoping to visit that "little mountain town" for a short time in a few weeks. Hoping for more snow though!

So glad you claimed Brad's family. My aunts (by marriage)have always said that to their husbands....if you leave me I still get your family.

And the flowers are beautiful! As long as he's not creepy, who cares who their from. They're flowers just for you!

Beautiful flowers. Every girl loves flowers on her counter, even if they are from "creepy guy" or "only friend" guy and of course from "THE guy". Such a nice thought.

Jennifer P. said...

just a note to those worried about "sender of my flowers". I know who sent them to me. He isn't really a SECRET admirer--I just didn't know that he'd want to have his name advertised on my blog. He's not creepy at all ;) !

Looks like you all had a great time. Just curious...was Brad there as well? Glad you all got together with the family, that's really nice.

Lovely flowers, beautiful.

Jennifer P. said...

Katy--

No, Brad wasn't there. I offered for him to come up and have the weekend, but he declined.

So glad you got to get away and have a good time. :)

Okay - I had so many things to say but they all flew out the window when I realized you have flowers... pretty flowers.... in an orange vase... from a very considerate gentleman. ;) I'm looking forward to the day when we get some more details on this prospect!! Glad you and the boys had a great vacation!

i'm so glad that you got a little vactaion in! and that you had a lot of fun with the peterson's --that is so funny to write and not even mean my own family when i say it!
those flowers are beautiful and what a great "guy" friend to be thinking of you. :)

Ooh fun!
My boys love to "play" video games too.
Looks like you had a blast!
Your flowers are beautiful. What a blessing to have a friend who is so sweet.

How awesome that you still get to have your awesome in-laws. That looked like a lot of fun. I was wondering if you had to be up there with B up there too (but I already saw someone else's query), because that wouldn't be awkward.

Rich said...

Sounds like (and looks like) you had a great time on the family vacation. Aren't family get together's the best?

The Flowers??? Hmm. Just a friend and don't read in to it. Did you happen to notice that they were roses? Doesn't that mean something in our culture? Granted it's not all "red", but there are SOME red's and orange is a color very close to red.. I think there might be more to this than you let on... you'll have to do another post on this sometime... when you're not busy with this mystery guy and his flowers... I know you SAY he isn't creepy, but I'd still do a background check :)...

Love the blog/post, as always.

How wonderful to have a much-needed vacation. I had to go back and take a second look at the family kitchen picture to notice the sign. Yes, wonderful message, and even more wonderful that Brad's family is being so good to you. The flowers are gorgeous. :)

That is so cool that you are still vacationing with Brad's family. I am guessing he wasn't there??? We've had several divorces in my hubby's family....and it is so sad when we lose the in law.

So excited about your flowers!! How fun!

Looks like you had a great vacation! And I am so glad that you got to keep Brad's family. But where are the pictures of the cinnamon rolls as big as my head? I'd love a cinnamon roll about now...

Totallyscrappy said...

Looks like you had a blast. (Minus the bruise, of course.) If you send Kat a picture of the cinnamon rolls, I want one too! The flowers are beautiful.

Sarah said...

Gorgeous flowers and what a great happy little vase! Even turned sideways, they look great!!

And now I've got a craving for cinnamon rolls! yum.

Looks like such a great vacation. I always pre post things when I'm on vacation, too. :)

LOVELY roses. You should do a post, supplying juicy tid bits to all of us that WANT to read something into the roses. :) Even if it's not true. j/k.

I'm looking forward to January, you know! :)

With a neverending to-do list, I have missed visiting your blog the last few days. And I do mean missed it. I enjoyed reading over every word of the last few posts and appreciate the variety of emotions and experiences shared with us. Hope you have a great weekend!

Must.Have.Cinnamon.Roll.

Okay, I'm better now!

So I like to think that I am a pretty intuitive individual.......

I have a feeling that I "know" who the flowers are from. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe not. Either way, it doesn't matter, as long as those flowers make you smile EVERY time you look at them!

Glad you had a good vacation!

sassy stephanie said...

Holy moly! As big as your head? I could prolly still eat 2. Glad you guys had a great break!

Caroline said...

I'm so glad that you still have the family to hang out with and love on you! Looks like a great time was had by all, even the neighborhood animals!

And I totally got your reference to "certain girls" seeing the mountains in the picture. Yep, I'm in the know on that one. I might be a stowaway in someone's luggage on that trip, just so I can meet you all in person!

ChefDruck said...

What a wonderful blog you have! The little town in the mountains looks beautiful - where is it? Thanks for entering the Didj contest at my blog.

I think I can speak on behalf of most of your blogger friends that we love to read your blog because of what you say and how you say it... not because you've commented on our blog. I say BAH! to that line of thinking :).

Oooohhhh, I love ice skating! However, being in Southern California, we have to pay to do that. I miss the East Coast some times...

HA! My kids are cheap dates too when it comes to video games. They "play" for free too. I think I should stop saying things like, "That was a close one!" and "Woo-WEE you really got that guy!" Otherwise I WILL be paying for their therapy later.

Oh, and please mail all future homemade cinnamon rolls AS BIG AS YOUR HEAD to my address. "Thank you for calling." (Willy Wonka quote).

You are good. My life gets crazy and the first thing to suffer is my blog. You just schedule ahead! And you do it beautifully. I love that you still stay involved with his family. They sound great.

Emily said...

Looks like such fun, I have never been ice skating before. I guess I should try it out-- at least once!

Your roses are divine!

Heather said...

There's so much to comment on here. The pictures are beautiful. And informative. And exciting. And those pancakes sure sound good. Maybe I'll get to try them some day.

AND don't get me started on this secret admirer. I'll leave you be right now and let him be a secret, but there will be a day when you spill everything. You know it. I know it. There will be ice cream involved.

Barb said...

Wow ~ glad to see you didn't have to loose the in laws. I think I was most happy about "loosing mine" in the divorce.
And I'm an "orange" girl too ~ especially orange roses.

Just came across your blog from tipjunkie. You seem like an amazing Sister in Zion and I hope you don't mind if I stick around for awhile. I think you are inspiring and I KNOW your major in Engish/writing is the way to go because you have a gift with words. Keep up the good work!

Andrea said...

What fabulous photos!! I'm glad that you got away and had a fun weekend. My mom and dad (and their families) still got along very well after they divorced. That's nice that families don't change.

I like that house, too. You should contacy the local realty. You never know?!?

What a great blog entry to end my catching up evening-thanks!

Ditto to everything Heather said.

And I'm just going to add in this...

April.
Yes, April. It's all happening. And we are VERY happy about the happenings.

CONGRATS on the flowers. That's awesome.

How fun!

I'm glad I got rid of my ex's family when I got rid of him. They were horrible. I did try to visit a few years ago and they haven't changed. Paid no attention to the girls, just griped about other family members that weren't there. I do kinda miss their gossip, after all I am a woman!! ha ha

Debbie said...

Out with it...who are they from??? Oh you knew that I would be the one to prod that out of you didn't you????!!!

Miki said...

Ice skating sounds like so much fun, unless you get kicked. Oooch. Family gatherings sound like so much fun, especially when you've done so well with the "x fam" that they are still yours to keep (good job Jennifer), and flowers sound extra "expecially" fun. That was a really nice thing to do.

Thanks for offering to help the other week. I really thought of you throughout my day. Just knowing that someone offered to help really made my day that much easier. Thank you for thinking of me. I want you to know it meant something for sure.

Tiffany said...

Oh my. Cinnamon rolls, pancakes and pounding secrets out of Jennifer?

April. How do I love thee?
