the boy squad
welcome to our blog!
A life in transition, happy to be lived in a transparent way because it's too beautiful and funny and tragic and filled with little miracles to be kept to myself. I love the comments. I love the sincere, kind followers. But if it was just me and the chirping crickets of cyberspace, I'd be here, doing this, regardless.
I am happiest when I can make someone laugh or cry...or laugh till they cry.
I am mother to my amazing blended family of six, recently transplanted to a California surfer city.
I am a fashionista.
I am an interior designer.
A poet. A pirate. A homeschooler. A writer.
I'm a lover, not a fighter (though don't pick a fight with me because I'll kick your trash.)
I live in a crazy house with my Emmy-nominated husband, a ukulele, and a seven foot tall bigfoot.
I never go a day without acknowledging God.
And I make the best chocolate frosting in the world.
Every day may not be good, but there is something good in every day.
"If you would not be forgotten as you are dead and rotten, Either write things worth reading, or do things worth the writing" -Benjamin Franklin
"That which we persist in doing becomes easier for us to do; not that the nature of the thing itself is changed, but that our ability to do it has increased" -Heber J. Grant
I would rather attempt something great and fail, than to do nothing and succeed.
these are the people i'll remember when i'm famous:
Looking for Friday Fotos? They'll be coming on Saturday! For today---I'm a guest blogger here.Where you can go read all myREALthoughts about blogging! Happy Long Weekending to you :)!
Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting. You must be a busy lady today with all of your guests. Living in Italy they charge you more to sit and stay. If you plan to leave they let you off easy. The coke had ice and it wasn't part of the charge. Coke is the expensive thing to drink in Italy yet water and wine flow like crazy. Well not quite but you get my drift by the story anyway. Hope to see more of you soon.
I just commented on your guest post at BATW... but I popped over to check out your blog and I just have to say... OH MY GOODNESS... THE MONKEES!!! You put a smile on my face. :)
Ok, I'm just going to stay here so I can listen to the rest of the song.
I enjoyed your post over there. I think we all feel that way sometimes when trying to describe to family or friends how we can feel like we know someone we've never met.
Great job on your guest post. I loved the part about the "huh?" look people give when you talk to them about your blog. Its kind of like parenting...in order to understand, you just have to have one.
I remember seeing you on Debbie's blog a while ago talking about how you hate the color purple... and as I was looking through your site, I can see why when I saw that your house was purple before the transformation. It looks great and although I love purple, I like your designs too. I am curious about how you did the diamonds in the boys room... it is super cool!
Absolutely perfect post over at BATW!!!! I have to say...about prayers and such from that post...it's been a while back...but I have one of my prayer lists stuck on my bathroom mirror...and Brian was looking over it and asked, "who's Jennifer P.? Do I know her?" Of course, my reply was, "no...she's a bloggy friend." His reply, "Whoa...you take this bloggin stuff seriously, huh!?" I sure do! I hope that some day our paths will cross...in real life...but until then...I'm so thankful for blogging... for without it..you can bet I'd never get to sew a quilt with you! :)
Coming in over at BATW. I loved your post. It is true about having such wonderful blog friends. That even though you never seen each other in person, you still feel so connected. I think that is one of the best things about the net. i also enjoyed your post things to do before i die. Hugs to you.
I read your comments on your guest blogging site -- funny and true! I hope things are going well for your and your cute little boys! Have a great day!!!
i just read your post over at BATW. CAn I just say - This is exactly what is happening to me!!! In fact one of my non-blogging friends told me recently (more like scolded)that it seems like blogging has become my social life. And my mother is "concerned" that all these people I don't actually know read my blog, and even worse - comment!!! hahahahaha. I told her that was the point - and i love it!!!
Hi Jennifer!! I wanted to reply to the comment you left on my blog about the "snow" song....
In California we had Rick Dees(of the weekly top 4 countdown fame) in the Morning on a local channel and he was nice enough one morning to tell us the main lyrics were something like. "Informer...you know Big Daddy Snow say I'm to blame..a licky boom boom down"
Checked out your 'other' blog. I loved it! I love before and after pictures, especially when it comes to houses. My parents current home is kind of the same way... a work in progress. I can't believe you guys braved all that in 3 months! My mom is still dreaming of a remodeled kitchen and master bed/ bath. Most of the rest of their house is done though.
I can't wait have our own home I can make our own, and will defiantely take 'before' pictures... as my parents didn't do that enough with their house. They hada sponge painted light blue living room with bright blue ceilings and dolphin curtains... all completed with mauve vertical blinds! What are some people thinking when it comes to house decor?!
All of Quincy's bedroom furniture and decor is a mixture of used and new things we bought before he was born. I refinished all his furniture, which looks like a new set, and took before pictures... but they were lost! Tyler never even got to see what they looked like because he was out of town and my mom helped me. I should post pictures sometime... people always comment on how nice his room looks and ask where I bought it from. They're always shocked when I say most of it was from the DI or SAVERS!
Something my mother always taught me, there's nothin' better than a great bargain!
Ahh, this comment is so long. Thanks for 'showing me your home', it's beautiful!
Beautifully written post! I wish everyone who has ever told me in that annoying incredulous voice "How do you have time to do that?" (referring to blogging), would read that. Great points!
A special hello from Rhode Island.I commented over at BATW, you were a very impressive guest with writings of such truth when it comes to our computer friends we have made through blogging. I find your blog to be so warm and inviting, I shall return. Enjoy this long weekend.
I loved your BATW post so much, I linked to that post and to your blog on mine yesterday: http://ladydorothy.blogspot.com/2008/08/wonder-of-blogging.html.
I couldn't help but pass on your genius to my other friends who live in my computer!
