Here's what we've been up to:
James builds his own drum kits out of my pots and pans. And then plays them. Reeeeeeeally loud. EVERY day. But with that face, how can I NOT let him rock and roll all night?! (Notice the couch cushions too?)
We made the chalk paint that we found on Meg's blog. Everyone was entertained for at least 20 minutes!: And after the kids had had enough of painting, guess who was still going :)?!:
It was as therapeutic as coloring or playing with play-doh!
My favorite dance from this season of So You Think You Can Dance. Loved that Mark! Loved that whole silly show! I actually got a little teary watching the finale' last night. That "best of" routine---WOWZA!!! And did anyone else have a huge grin plastered on their face when Mary and Nygel danced? I bet Simon would never get up and SING on American Idol! Congratulations to Joshua---an untrained dancer---who won the whole sha-bang! Only 10 more months till the next season. *SIGH*
Also, after passing like blogging ships in the night once before, I finally got to meet Jenni this week! She's just as sweet as she seems on her blog, which leads me to think that all the rest of you are too :). Thanks for the great conversation Jenni! Hope to be able to buy one of your books some day soon!
Also, Also I've seen this memory challenge up on a few other blogs......and I'm self-centeredly curious to see what I might get. It doesn't matter if you've known me for a long time, a little time, or only through blogging---could you be so sweet as to leave me a comment about a memory you have of me? Let me know if you're playing on your blog too--and I'll come leave a memory about you!
***May your weekend be full of pleasant surprises!***

All my great memories of you are all the incredible blog posts I read here. Love it!
I have really enjoyed your blog since discovering it on TCB, and I remember the first time you left a comment on mine. I felt like a celebrity had stopped in, and I worried that I didn't have everything fabulous enough for your arrival. But your comments were so sweet and encouraging, and now I feel like you are a friend!
My memory, of course, was seeing you for the first time with your red, red lipstick, and thinking....
well....
SAYing out loud (because I couldn't help myself), "OOooh, you're so exotic looking!" After I said it, I was a little embarrassed revealing my deepest thoughts all of a sudden, and I thought, "why must my thoughts continually just jump right out of my mouth?" I guess you'll always know exactly what I'm thinking...
I also remember how surprisingly quiet you were in person...is this a shock? You sometimes seemed to be in such deep thought at the drop of a hat (and I assumed for good reason too, you had a lot going on back then...and..now...anyway).
I wondered to myself, "what is she thinking?" wishing I could read your forehead like I read your blog.
I hope I'm not making you feel weird? I've since wondered, "I wonder if brilliant writers are often like that? They must continually have these deep thoughts throughout the day, and magically reveal themselves to us through paper." It changed me a bit, making me wonder about all of those quiet people...
No, you're not THAT quiet, just quieter than I expected...
♥ Great pictures the painting looks like fun. I love So You Think You Can Dance! I like how they finally showed Mary and Nygel dancing! :)
i remember when you were just dating brad i think and you took me to your house or apartment and i thought that was so cool. then i think we went to the zoo with you guys too and that was fun...
when i was in the 4-wheeler wreck and you guys came to see us-gave the news to my mom too.
being in your wedding and hanging out when you lived at the house down the road...
thinking you had cool decorating ideas and styles and always liking new things in your houses...babysitting a couple times for you.
seeing you and knowing you differently now than I ever have. appreciating how you're clinging to your boys and the gospel through this super rough time. love you.
I am a blogging buddy, and here is my memory. I first found a few months ago, and the memory I have is a post about happy things and you took a picture of your (really cool) red shoes (along with pics of the boys and other happy things). It was such a fun post
So many memories. Stake dances and late night runs to Pizza Hut for breadsticks. I remember your ever changing bedroom growing up. I have never known anyone who changed their style as much as you! Driving your mom's car, riding your horse and eating frozen pizza. Such good times.
Okay...I don't want this to make you sad or anything...but this is THE first post I thought of...it was the one about Easter lillies...and how Brad brought them to you because he knew their signifigance...at the time of that post I thought, "Oh what a very sweet man!" Then a few weeks later...I'm thinkin' not so sweet. I hope this doesn't make you sad...I thought for a second that I should just choose another but just me being honest...and I think that's what you'd want :) Now, go on and read a happy post to make you laugh! Of course another great memory is the first time you commented on MY blog! I thought I'd made it to The Big Leagues!)
well, we haven't known each other long, but i can remember feeling like everything was right in the world the first time you ever commented - and now, we "talk" every day! i can also remember reading about what has been going on with you and your life lately, and thinking that you are one strong strong strong lady. I definitely admire you :)
I didn't know what to think when I saw that dance the first time (I'm not a fan of the choreographer), but I loved seeing it again. It really showcases Mark's quirkiness! The only dance that I wish they had done again that they didn't was the Courtney/Will samba. I did love how they packed the show with dancing and not so much with the who's-going-to-win? stuff.
My favorite "memory" of you is that pic of your reaction to Mark making it to the top 6!
Sooo many! 1)Thinking how absoulutely GORGEOUS you were in college. I was so intimidated by that six pack belly and your 100 sit ups every night. 2)You fainiting while pregnant with Ethan. 3)You bringing me a forzen hot chocolat one hot summer day.
4)All you gentle pushings to do something "neat" with my WHITE walls. 5)Mona Lisa dinner.....there of course are so many more, but those are the 1st five I came up with today.
Last night's SYTYCD was fantastic! I loved the favorite dances! Mary is not quite so annoying when she's dancing, I actually have a little respect for her now. Up until Wednesday night I was hoping Katee would win. That changed that night to Joshua. I'm glad he won!
I don't know you and am a brand spankin' new blogger. However, I have been reading you for a couple of weeks so I can safely say the post that hooked me was "But I do still cry. Every day in fact." I am not entirely sure what challenges you have been through recently, but it is clear to me that you have a great personality and you seem like a wonderful mommy to a BUNCH of little guys.
You've got a creative little drummer there! And I love the idea of the chalk paint!!
Well...let's see. I guess I saw you everywhere. But for some reason I never came over here. Until Elena did a post about you...and I thought it was high time I introduced myself. And what I remember most about that was your edict that I must comment five times on your blog before you would become my personal stalker. Still makes me giggle :-)
Oh, that and my question about homeschooling. Totally made me question whether or not I should even post about my trip to the homeschool expo. So, I just put a warning label on the post instead.
I forgot to say that I love your Friday Fotos too. They are one of my most favorite posts cause I get to see you all!
Love the Friday Fotos. I have all boys myself and anything to exert some of that energy is wonderful.
Blessings,
Linda
Friday photos are so sweet!!
Since I've just oh-s-very recently discovered your blog, my best memory of you is thinking, Hey that girl likes SYTYCD and isn't afraid to admit it! then the Invisible Me slapped you a high five in the air...
LOVED the "best of" routine, too!!
Well, I've only been reading your blog for a short time so, um, I remember when you first commented on my blog :)
Is that an ice cream scoop or ladle your son is drumming with?
My first memory of you was checking out your blog via the Nester back in late January or early February this year. I lurked for maybe a day or two then left a comment. Within minutes you were over at mine leaving a comment, and I felt so special because you were the first person outside my friends and family to actually read my blog let alone comment. Everytime I'd stop by you always returned the favor. Then when you put me on your blog roll, I was thrilled. Absolutely thrilled that such a great blogger was going to be checking in on me. I will never forget it...And I will never let you live down getting me this sucked into it all. Your brilliant writing keeps me coming back. I.READ.EVERY.WORD. ALWAYS.
Love the pics of the boys, and you know I love and adore you. xoxoxox
Oh and I LOVE JENNI'S blog! She is a great writer as well.
Looks like you all have been busy!
Arrived here from Carrie's blog.
That chalk painting looks fun and easy to clean up!!!
I love that you were chalk painting with your boys... and well after they finished. I love coloring, and it's my favorite part of our primary class lessons. I always liked coloring with kids I used to babysit... something about it just makes me happy. I suppose it is theraputic.
My memory is meeting you the first "official" time at a RS dinner. You even held Quincy while I scarffed down my food. And asked if he liked to suck on his binky upside down. I thought it was funny, and obvious that you were a mother of boys... because you were holding him like a natural mohter-of-boys would.
I'm always amazed when I glance over in your direction during sacrament mtg and see you handling all FOUR of those boys with grace... even if I catch a breif look of exhasperation as your little James is wandering off hand in hand with Liam. Ha ha. Your boys are really cute!
For me, the post about your fortune about dying in a fire was one of my favorites. I don't know why, but it cracks me up so much that I tell other people about it!
I found you during a time that your heart was aching, but the writing that poured out was truly incredible.
I heart you and your blog!!!
I donno...everything. I just like you, okay? We would totally be friends if we lived in the same area. I'm sure of it. We would run into each other at Albertson's and become bff instantly...I'm just sure of it.
:)
A memory of you...that you have always been really good at leaving me love on my blog. I love your comments; they make my day. They really do pick me up and I feel sad that I haven't been better at being a good blogger friend back. I will work harder. I also remember how supportive you were/are of me and my business, especially when I was just starting!! ;) Thanks for being so sweet at everything.
I also have been thinking about you lately...I sent you lots of shout outs during the SYTYCD finale...I am going to miss that show...
Happy Sunday to you- Kam
I need to break out the painting trick for my kids. I could use some uninterrupted time.
Are you seriously asking me to pick just one? I love them ALL and I seriously mean that. Now that you're making me dig deep and think of something, I've thought of a couple...the one about your garden. The before and after pics. All your decor posts, cuz I'm totally into all that. When you said you were an English major and you wrote poetry and wanted to publish a book of poetry--parallel lives, sister. Your NKOTB love. All the fabulous music you have on here, which I am always stealing. The dance team stuff. Yeah...all of it. And I don't know...you're a great mom and a strong (and happy) woman despite It All and I think there's just something that needs to be said about that. You pretty much "kick ass" and I just don't say that for anyone. We would totally be friends in real life. :)
BTW...you won an award over at "my place" check it out. :)
This video scrapbook will become a treasured keepsake in time, if it hasn't already. Love the photos you post each Friday!
Oh, that paint is the best. I love it and I am going to make it again, but double it up because I wanted to paint too, and the kids used it all up so darn fast!
See, this is how much I like you, girl! I commented TWICE on here and didn't even know it! Yeah. :)
I loved the story about the mystery man called (new?) boots! Only, I was realy bummed that he moved away before you could date him..in due time, of course...
Really, I just enjoy it all!
Linda
I love your week in photos! Looks like the kids had a fun and creative week. My hears hurt just looking at the first photo. lol
i am so glad i could help you entertain your kids for even a short time. it's a never ending task isn't it?
a memory??
that you were one of my first steady commentors and made me feel very good in everyone!
thanks.
i would let the drum set stay too.
you'd hate to stifle the next big rock star...you never know!
