Deck the halls with boughs of holly (and other non-breakable things)

Yes! It's true! The theme for this years Christmas decor is "Non-Breakable!". Reason? See below: This is 10 minutes after he's been awake on Day 1 of the decorated tree. We are working dilligently on the concept of "one finger touch". Thus far, we are failing. Here's a few more pictures of the James-proof holiday spirit now strung about our home.

The hall mantle. If you look in the glass hurricane, you can see a few of the glass bulbs that are generally on our tree. I think this is the only place in the house tall enough to put precious things. (And doesn't the smoke detector look cheery too?!) Note to self: hallway color is very bland. Paint hallway in January.

My little candle village. This belonged to my mom's mom, and so it is with great care we take it out each year. I remember re-arranging it countless times as a child-- making Santa hide behind the trees or pretending the little carolers were ice skating on the mirror pond. I love it!
The dining room. James has lost interest in flowers since they're always around the house, but the candles with their glittery coating are quite alluring.
The tree. It looks so naked without its bulbs, but the yarn balls are holding up nicely. I have five more left to make, that should help fill it out a little more. Boxes of animal crackers have always been a staple on our tree; however all the boxes on bottom this year are empty (guess why!). This is our first year with an artificial tree. I miss the pine smell, but I know I won' t miss the shedding, drooping branches; daily watering part!
If I can't put them on the tree, I thought I'd at least post a picture of my cute ornaments bought on clearance last year. Maybe I'll put them up just for my party on Saturday.

Merry christmas!

Several years back I read that animal crackers were manufactured with a string handle especially for hanging on a christmas tree. And since the colors match my house, I thought they'd be cute. Now my kids make sure I put them up because they know that the day after Christmas they get to eat them!

Cute! I love the yarn ball idea, and I know my sister would too, she kints all the time and even spins her own yarn out of raw wool.

Have a very merry christmas party!

i love this idea.
it's no fun for the kids if you are always yelling "don't touch!" we also cut giant snowflakes and just stuck them to the tree. i like the bags!
very cute.
