why aren't these children in school?!
One of the perks of being homeschooled is that my kids get to take the entire month of December off. They still have to write in their journals, do their hour of daily reading, and practice the piano--but no math, essays, spelling, history, etc.. We all LOVE it! We usually end up using our school time to do fun crafts together or go exploring around town, but today they just wanted to play Super Smash Bros..--so I let them. What a nice mom I am!CHILD LABOR IN IDAHO?
Our willow and cherry tree have FINALLY dropped their leaves--so I sent the boys out for a 1/2 hour of raking (with no jumping in the piles this time!). There was much complaining. Knowing that Brad and I would be the ones bagging all the piles, I didn't listen to their protests. What a mean mom I am!

Liam came wandering out of the play room today and said "see Mom! I wrote your name!". I looked, expecting to see scribbling, but it was REALLY my 'name'! Wow! I have tried many times to sit with Liam and teach him how to write his own and other's names, but he has shown no interest whatsoever in being taught how to make his letters (too much sitting!). Guess it was all just stored up in his little brain anyway! This will be one of those pictures I'll look at every time I need a smile.

If ever there was a source of energy I wish I could harvest--it is this: THE SOURCE OF JAMES' TEMPER!!! See my poor pathetic baby clutching the tray to his high chair? Is he horribbly wounded? Has he had a bad fall? NO!--He has just been told that he can't eat cookies for breakfast! What a will this little guy has! The two of us have at least one small 'disagreement' each day, and it takes all my strength to not cave in. (I only win about 85% of the time. ) He really is a sweetheart.... just don't get him angry! Honestly, if I could find somewhere to hardwire him, he could at least power our dishwasher.
IN OUR NEXT ISSUE: Scientists may have found mysterious source of ice cream shortage. Looking to question a frazzled-looking mother, 5'7", last seen with four young males.

Funny stuff. I love that Liam can spell Mom already. So cool. You have genius kids!
By the way, I don't know why Brad couldn't reach us. Unless he called suring the week when I didn't have a working phone. I just had to buy a new one. Sorry, we really weren't trying to avoid him! :)
