How to make a gingerbread house

First you need a few dishes of candy--you can try and snack on it if you like, but you may break a tooth.
Next, you need some cereal to make a charming cottage roof.
Then you need two boys willing to do a little decorating work.
All of this yields one cute gingerbread house.........
and one very messy kitchen.

We had a great time making this today. We worked mostly when James was napping, making the whole project a bit less hectic. Poor Liam wasn't able to help. He has had the stomach flu since midnight last night--this is his 4 th bout with it in about 8 weeks. We're going to the doctor tomorrow to make sure it isn't some kind of food allergy or water-born virus. Wish us luck!

The house turned out great. I just love a gingerbread house. Poor little Liam. NOTHING is worse than stomach flu. I sure hope none of the rest of you catch it!! Keep me posted.

The gingerbread bug was just floating all around yesterday! Your house is so cute, look at your boys concentration! What is it with projects that trash the kitchen. I was cleaning longer than I was baking yesterday!! I have always had the desire to make one of those lavish gingerbread houses-- they probably cost more than my mortgage to produce in candy, but awesome!
