4th of July on the 8th of July

I know I've been talking ya'al's ears off lately!--so I thought I'd do a less wordy, more picturey, post. Here's how we spent our 4th of July:

We started off at a potluck dinner with a great group of friends.
There was trampoline jumping---and nothing broken---hooray! Lots of food and lots of conversation:

A swing set: And about a thousand cans of opened and 1/3 of the way drank pop. That's how you know you're partyin' down with kids---lots of undrank pop :)!
And water balloon games:

Liam, trying to "de-seed" his watermelon.

Zane contemplating whether or not to further soak our friend Bill--big Bill retaliates with head dunks in the melted cooler ice after all! Yes--Zane threw it--and yes, he got held by his ankles and dunked!

This picture cracks me up! I told Ethan he looked like a caveman with his drumstick and asked him to give me his best "caveman face". This is what I got!

-------------------------------------------------------------

Then back home for ***FIREWORKS*** with friends Chris and Michelle and their girls. James and Liam freaked out at the smoke bombs going off when we first turned on our street. They H-A-T-E fireworks and were very happy to just go right to bed with their white noise machine running on extra loud!

Our neighbors across the street had set up their stereo outside and were blaring John Williams (mostly the "Superman" theme) over and over. Background music for the FOUR HOURS of fireworks they let off. Seriously. Four hours. and not just little fireworks, but big boomy, shooting up in the air ones. We missed hours one and two, made it for hour three, and spent hour four wishing they would knock it off already so we could go to sleep. When I woke up on Saturday morning, our street and yard looked like a battle zone!--covered in burn marks and firework shrapnel.

I guess the hour I spent cleaning it all up was just "thanks" for the $500 bucks they must have sunk on pyrotechnics--- that we got to watch for free!

Wow! You know how to party too (I just read Elena's cop stopping the show fireworks post). Everyone I love knows how to party! I seem to be attracted to fun personalities. Why must bland old me love to watch fun, and love fun people, but cringe to be a part? sigh....I run now at the thought of joining in.

The story and picture of "caveman" Ethan just was hilarious. It was my favorite btw of the whole post.

Hey! I just noticed that you are from Idaho, me too! And your interest in the Mormon Tab Choir led me to believe that you are Mormon, me too. Where do you live? Small world.

i always love the fact that there is some family out there willing to spend mucho-bucks on something that i would NEVER spend a lot of money on. (i think that we spent around $13 for our fireworks....now that is reasonable for me!) amazingly enough; jack did really well with the fireworks. he was a little nervous during the evening whenever he heard a loud boom of any kind, but had no problems with the big show.

i think i would have finally yelled out my window around 4 1/2 hours...good thing you were only around for 2 hours of it--could you just imagine ALL FOUR HOURS!!!

Our part-time neighbors had a pyrotechnic display that probably cost them 1000.00 or more. We watch theirs before we shot off our 20.00 worth!!
We partied hard with some friends from church that are childless, but enjoy our kids. The diet coke and ice team flowed freely. We even had sundaes for dessert! :-)

Woo-hoo it's your big SITS day! I'd have to agree, 4 hours is a bit much. I'm more of a 30 minutes of great fun type. We went to McD's yesterday and there was a little boy who could have Liam's twin. I was going to take a picture to send to you, but I was afraid his mother would think I was a crazy child snatcher freak. He had the same hair cut and everything.

Lovely 4th July photos!! Looks like much fun was had by all!!

Here, in NV, fireworks are banned, except for public displays. The fire danger is just to high.

Back in NZ, we have Guy Fawkes night, where everyone lets off fireworks. Rather miss doing that..

Seriously, it's funny how we can get on a blog and just YAP YAP YAP away...but if you threw us all into a room together we'd be blushing and backing into corners.

Unless drunk. Everything goes out the window when Jackie D. arrives.

The 4th is the best! Hubby loves fireworks. 4 hours of them must have cost a small fortune!!!

Jennifer I missed the party!!! I am so excited that you were featured today..Now even more people will know of your fabulousness. Is that a word? I hope you are enjoying all your SITS lovin!

Hello. Had a look at Dave. Way to consevative for me. No way he could be a boyfriend.
That is a lot of fireworks.
Of course, that is one avenue of pleasure banned in Australia. No personal use of fireworks. Only official, you've got a licence, and paying a professional etc.
I remember when we were little we were still allowed to let off crackers. The good old days....

Emily said...

Looks like a good time!

We are also banned of fireworks, but I sneak sparklers past our county border and try not to get caught.

Brittany Ann said...

LOVE that picture with Liam! That's adorable. If it makes you feel any better about your neighbor and their fireworks, a neighbor of ours (well, down the street a way) was lighting fireworks in the middle of the day and lit the hill on fire. It burned two acres before the fire department could stop it. Stupid neighbors.

LOL my son has that same Mr. Mischief shirt. It's my favorite.

What a fun time. We had lots of people doing their illegal fireworks down the street so we had a great show for free as well.
