like two blogging ships passing in the night....

or something like that.

Don't you love those moments in life when something happens that is timed and choreographed so utterly perfect that it just feels like God is saying "yup girl. Keep walking the direction you're going. It's the right way. Look--I'm gonna drop a little sum'pin your way just sos ya know I'm not talkin' smack" ?! (hope that wasn't sacrilegious. Sometimes, in my mind, God talks a little gangsta to me. We're tight-- He and I--but in a completely reverent way.)

Anyway--this is a little story about how my blogging life crossed paths with my real life today:

About 6 weeks ago, I got a new reader named Jenni. Her blog name came up on my bravenet counter as penofjenn, and I thought she was amongst my strangely large number of Norwegian readers whose name must be Pen Ofjenn. Nope. Not male or Norsk. She is actually a real friend of my blog friend Shannon. They both live in the Vancouver, WA area---about 9 hours from here. I think I teased her that we must have been separated at birth because we were an awful lot alike---from a love for decorating and photography, to the fact that we were once able to speak fluent German, and even a bizarre shared crush on the Kratt brothers from Zaboomafoo.

Well, on my last post Miss Jenni asked me if by some strange chance I might have been at the RC Willey (furniture store) on that (Thursday) afternoon. She was in town visiting family and thought she recognized me. Now--frankly I think I see my bloggy friends' faces everywhere too--usually the women who are taking pictures of stuff in Wal*Mart. (Is that you Debbie? Heather? Are you gonna do a post about the Wal*Mart? Is that why you're photographing those boxes of tampons?-**that was me thinking**) But, guess what? It just so happens that I WAS in RC Willey! And come to think of it, there was this cute blond girl who kept looking at me like she knew me, and the people she was with called her......Jenni! Oh, but it doesn't end there!!!.....

Jenni's husband also looks at me like he should know me. Yeah, that's 'cause he DOES--or did about 19 years ago when he and his buddies use to hang out with me and mine at the church dances. And when his little sister and I played the cello together in orchestra. And when he and I graduated from the same high school a year apart..... (of course I didn't say anything to him because most people are a little taken aback by my freaky elephant brain that never forgets a face or a story!--in other words, they usually don't remember and I go away feeling a little foolish for having spoke up! Wait, I think I'm off track again-----)

After a few e-mails, Jenni and I realize that we grew up just a town apart. That we share some more acquaintances beyond her husband. And that yesiree it is, indeed, a small world. Made ever smaller by the miracle of the blog.

The only sad thing---we realized one another's identities too late to have actually spoken. Like I said in the title, I guess we were just like two blogging ships passing in the night...... and by ships, I mean two women who blog.....and by night, I mean the RC Willey.....and by passing, I mean passing--------- Now is that cool or what?!

Nice to have "met" you Jenni! :)

I love that you wrote about this. I even called Brooke (in Utah) and told her about it. If you are out and about I may see you again. We are in town until Sunday. . .

Oh wow! Way cool! If it makes you feel any better...sometimes I think God talks gangsta-ish too! That really is too cool...it is indeed a small world!

How cool. That would be so neat to meet a bloggy friend. And that's too bad that you passed in the night. So to speak.

totally neat....too bad the timing wasn't more right.
unfortunately, i have never been to boise...don't get up there (even to see my cousin) blogging does make the world so much smaller (and do much easier to keep in touch with the people that you already know)
have a happy holiday!

Your mind amazes me. We grew up together, knew all the same people and can hardly remember my own name!!

Ohmygosh ohmygosh...I do the same thing in the store...do I know her? Is she so and so? I only know of one blogger that lives about 2-3miles from me, but she stopped blogging so I don't know how to get in touch with her...let's just say that we probably go to the same stores because we live in the same community...It really is a small small world....

and...I've told you this before, and I'll tell you this again, you and your boys have free room and board anytime you want to get a big ole dose of "American History"....

That is really cool. I don't have to worry about looking for my readers - I am pretty sure my family are the only ones that look at it. Thats ok though. It is pretty neat how you could run into the friends you meet through the blog.

What a fun story!! What a shame you two didn't actually get to meet.

I met one of my favourite bloggers back in January. I was in Toronto, and she lives fairly nearby, so we arranged to meet. THAT was fun!!

I swear, I am like you wondering if I am passing people at the store. Swirl Girl who I "met" through blogging lives like 5 minutes from where we live each summer... crazy.

Even stories about you "meeting" Jenni in RC Willey are fun to read.

that's one small world we live in. Wanna here my small world story about Jenni....our families were having a picnic and I asked her husband "where do you work?" He tells me and I say, "I think my HS boyfriend works for that company." So I tell him my HS boyfriends name and he says, "I just talked to him this morning!"

CRAZY!

I had something like that happen not long ago--Lisa@The Preacher's Wife and I went to high school together and happened to figure it out via another blog!

I'm an elephant like that too. I've made a fool of myself numerous times telling people that we knew each other years ago. One time this girl even said,"I remember you! You were a bully!" I really don't think I was, though--we just had a disagreement once, I think!

Anyway, sorry to go on forever! That is very cool!!
