*Nester and Frillsfluffsandtrucks wanted to see pictures of the furniture I spent 10 years saving for. That's kind of a question, right?........
This is my chair. I got it from Norwalk. Don't you love it's crocodile leather.......that's really just embossed vinyl! They'd never put this material on anything but the seat of a dining room chair before, and were a little leery of using it on a whole piece. I promised them it would turn out fabulous... and I think it did. I just looooove it. It wipes down like a dream, matches with everything, and choosing vinyl over leather saved me almost $600. Nester, I know you like to name your furniture--can you name her for me? I had a really nice Ethan Allen sofa before, but it was the only piece of upholstered furniture in my living room and took quite a beating. Custom denim slipcovers gave it a few more years of use. But after 120 hard months of being sun baked, vomited on, it's cushions ripped off and turned into forts, and graffitti-ed with chocolate milk stains-- it had had it! When my mom passed away, she left me money and made me promise to buy a new couch (!) with some of it. I ordered our current one from Room and Board. I love all their clean-lined, texture-over-pattern, traditional/modern mixed furniture. It's covered in some super soft micro-chenille that feels just like my favorite sweater. I often lay down on this sofa just to rub my cheek against it. Oh--and it has down-filled cushions that feel soooo good to nap on. Thus far it has stayed out of the sun, not hosted any children with the stomach flu, and scrubbed up pretty nicely after getting hit with sippy cups full of kiddie coffee (chocolate milk). Hopefully it will make it 10 years too!
This is what it looks like all done up for its picture:
But, honestly, this is how it looks most days
I can name this one Nester---it's "Jumpy" for sure!
The story of my furniture.....that could have been a post all in itself, huh?!
*Kat asked about my homeschooling philosophies and curriculum and learning styles and zzzzzzz...... Unless you're a homeschooler, I'm sure it's not that exciting! But Kat, I'm going to direct you to this post, which should answer most of your questions. My boys will be attending public school for the first time this year--just to give them something to compare their homeschool experience to, and also to give me time to figure out how to fit being a full-time student into my schedule of being a full-time mom. I am hating having to give up being a homeschooler for a time, because I enjoy it with all my heart---but it was a decision made after a lot of prayer---so I know they'll be alright. We'll take stock of how we're doing next year and how we want to proceed from there. If the boys want to be homeschooled again, I'll find a way to make it happen.
*Elena asked how I always find such perfect music to put up on my blog. Aaaaaah! Thanks Elena! Most bloggers are annoyed by music (so says every 'survey' I've seen taken on that subject), but I personally LOVE blog music. I like to see if it fits with the post or if its just a random favorite song. It's the way I've discovered a lot of new tunes I wouldn't have heard any other way. Sadly, Playlist is HORRIBLE for trying to search out songs. They want you to spell E-V-E-R-Y word correctly. Like when I was searching for Kylie Minogue's song, I typed in "Out of my Head". No matches. It had to be "Outta My Head" to get anything. SO, yes--it might be pathetic, but I know and searched out specifically all of these songs on my playlist. In fact, my freaky elephant brain memorizes the words to EVERY song I hear more than once. I would totally win a million bucks on a show like "Don't Forget the Lyrics" (is that even still on?). I thought you would enjoy Oklahoma today because it DOESN'T match anything about this post. But I do love to dance around my house to it, including jumping up in the air and clicking my heels together. Yes--I can actually do that. I'm such a dancin' broadway star.....in the privacy of my own home :)!
*The Queen asked if I have any hidden talents. Yes!-- I can put my entire fist in my mouth. I'm hoping I can do something useful with it one day. Maybe get out of a speeding ticket or get to jump to first in the line at Wal*Mart on every 4th Tuesday?..... I don't think anyone has watched me do that"party trick" since college! Maybe I'll take a picture of myself doing it one day......that would be an interesting thing to throw out there in cyberspace!
Is anyone still reading? Are you all bored to death? Because it feels like I have been typing for FOREVER and saying nothing! :) Here let me do this:
Tune in tomorrow for the second half of the questions to be answered! (I am LOVING milking this thing for all it is worth anyhow!).
LOVE TO YOU ALL!---except weird guy googling "women who can stick their entire fist in their mouth"---I have no love whatsoever for you!!!

This made me laugh so hard... please post a picture of your fist in your mouth... lol.. that is too funny... and I love your furniture very nice.. When my grandsons come over that is what my couch looks like also.
ok... another question... how are you able make your print look the way it does... do you do it on something else... or are you just gifted also in knowing html?
Joy,
All the font stuff is right there in your google blogger. I've just figured out every possible combination of font size, italics, and bold--and so was born my crazy typing style. When I talk, I talk with my hands---so it was my attempt at typing the same way!
you are seriously so entertaining and funny. don't think that you're just rambling.
i forget...but what are you going back to school for? b/c i was thinking that since you have to find a job that you can make money at, you should try staging. my sis just finished getting liscenced for that and since you are already a ID you should do that too! just a bug for your ear. ;P
That is really fun! Looking forward to tomorrow and someime....in the future....a picture of your fist in your mouth :-)

Oklahoma, OK.
I was in that musical in high school.
I'll bet I could give you a run for your money on the lyrics thing! Put anything to music and I'll remember it forever.
And definitely post a picture with your fist in your mouth!!!!
I knew that if Nester and Emily said they wanted to "know" you in real life...you'd be FUN! YES-SIR-REE, you are! And I talk with my hands, too. Was there something different about your font? Didn't notice...lol.
Balancing beauty and bedlam, Jen:)
Yes, Yes - a picture of the fist. If you do that, I'll make a video of all the sound effects I can do. We should plan to post them at the same time.
I demand a fist picture. Lovin it. And by the way, that Broadway jump and kick your heals together is called a "Bell Kick." FYI :)
I completely understand the furniture thing. Oh my! Mine should be condemned after 3 kids!!
No matter what any dares you, do NOT stick your fist in your mouth! :-o

SUCH a fun post!!! I love love love your furniture. I was just thinking the other day... I wonder if you could upholster furniture in vinyl? It would be so easy to clean up.
BRILLIANT!!
You should name your chair "Cleopatra"--she just looks seductive...lol :) This was a fun post, can't wait to read tomorrow's. And I have always loved your different fonts and sizing typing :)
Tamie,
I'll be an English major with a writing emphasis. Thanks for the idea--I appreciate anyone's input! My interior design business does staging right now, there's just a lot of competition and I still don't want to work days--or at least every day. My writing degree will allow me to do technical editing and free-lance writing from home, and--after everyone is in school--to teach. It was the best solution I could come up with to see that everyone gets taken care of, and I still get to be the Mom.
Kimba,
I can sing the names of all the states in ABC order, the names of all the presidents, and the books of the old and new testaments----along with every TV theme ever written! Somehow I bet YOU can too ;)!
Marvelous Mom,
WELCOME! Yeah--lucky me stumbled upon Nester and Chatty in their pre-blogging stardom days. I can recognize talent like nobody's business :)!
Caroline,
I'd watch that!
Amanda,
Of course you would know that ;)!
And thanks to everyone else for wanting to see my fist in my mouth....I think!
LOL! Funny questions and great answers. I almost mentioned something about your elephant brain, but then I deleted it. I knew you just knew all these songs. Thanks for the song just for me; I can click my heels too. I'll do that today just for you. :)And I'm with Lisa, no, no, no, on the fist picture. Some creepy man will get ahold of that for sure. We'll all just use our vivid imaginations and laugh. :)
I love that you name your furniture. I have always had the dream of living in a house with name. Maybe I shoud just name mine. But I want to name my house and live in it forever. Rob tells me frequently that I should have been born fifty years ago on the east coast because the stuff I love are old fashioned (decor, lifestyle, etc).
Fun Post. I'll be back tomorrow for the rest of your entertaining answers.
Jenni--
My little house has a name: "Providence Cottage". One day I'll get a little plaque to hang outside or something :)!
So I'm not the only mother whose children tear off all the pillows and cushions to jump on the couch? I never can understand why my kids do it to my couch because it's disgusting and I do not like what's revealed under the cushions.
LOVING that chair!! Stupid furniture people wondering if it would look good. You need to design for them. Kenny Rogers is playing--LOVE YOU!
I'm gonna be thinking of a name for your hardworking chair. Lady, classy, timeless, no nonsense, sofisticated yet sassy...
PS This is the nester--I'm at Em's
I'll be back
♡ Love the furniture! The couch sounds heavenly! :)
Marge.
nester and emily
Nester and Emily--
Marge is my MIL's name. I'm sure she won't mind sharing it with a crocdile vinyl chair :)!
Ha! I love it! That's how much couch looks most of the time too!
LOVE the chair and the color on your accent wall. Is it orange-y?
LOL--enjoying everyone's comments so much. I agree with the "fist can stay mouthless" bunch....that will make you want to do it maybe..."I can stick my fist in my mouth if I want to!" It's also funny how you think your writing is boring when I'm enjoying every thought. You must never see my furniture btw...never. Well, everything except the table and couch anyway. UGH.
Melanie--
Yup! My whole kitchen is orange. It's one of my three favorite colors :)!
I love how we all love furniture. I know what you mean about vinyl/leather furniture. We love our leather sofa with our hairy dogs because it wipes right off!
Great post! Isn't it odd to see who googles what and comes up with your blog? It is puzzling, that's for sure!
~ Sarah
Is the paint color in your kitchen "Summer Heat" by Behr? It looks so similar to my kitchen color...lol! Wow. I have decorator's taste..lol :)
Never bored here in your corner of the internet. Never. Even with the boring question that I asked. But I knew it was boring before I asked. Which is why my blog changed quickly from a homeschooling blog to a blog about me, me, me. Can't wait to read part two tomorrow...
Mrs. Q,
I call it "garbage can orange" because I had it custom mixed to match the shade of a Target garbage can I owned :)!
I love your style Jennifer. You are too cool for school.
I name things too-- my first car was named Octovio, and my second car was named Tammy.
I love your couch sans cushions!
Love your style. My child husband and I bought a expensive sofa and it lasted like a week with my kids!! lol Hope yours last longer.
I too name things and right now my car is my "Precious".
Thanx for the weird talent - now all want to see the fist in the mouth along with sound effects from Caroline.
Too cute of a blog, can't wait for the rest.
I am LOVING this post. I can't wait to read the one above it! You make everything so interesting!
I kept this post to comment on forever...sorry...but wanted to tell you...GIRL, you can seriously pull off that hat! I mean, where can I get one! You (as my mom would say) have a perfect hat face!
Loved the couch too. When Roy gets home wanna come over and help me decorate! :)
Take Care!
