more of friday fotos

Here's my week in pictures again----with words included, because lets face it: my fingers just can't shut up!.......

We've been pushing 100 here all week, so we wait until 9:00 pm to go out and ride bikes. Is little James riding the scooter not the most hilarious thing? He wants so bad to keep up with everyone else!

Here are my kids and several of their friends having a water fight with my neighbor Chris--a grown man with only little girls who thinks it's fun to have boys to tease :)! He was up on his kids' swingset hiding behind an umbrella and spraying them with the hose. They were retaliating by throwing cups of water over the fence, and finally got wise and unloaded on him with our hose! I stayed inside the nice, dry house---- laughing!

In the summertime, I just turn the heat off in the hot tub and let it work like our pool. Every time I have to buy the chemicals to go in it I think "I'm gonna get rid of this thing and put in an outdoor fireplace....", but look how much they like it. How could I?

I have a patch on the side of my house that I planted with wildflower seeds. It's been so cool to see what has--and continues to---sprout up:

I love looking at stuff that I grew!

********
And now, a moment of silence for Mark's departure from So You Think You Can Dance:

I have watched a lot of SYTYCD, but he has been my most favorite of all time. He dances like a gorgeous tragedy---teetering on the edge of lyrical insanity. Just how I would.... if I ever danced in front of millions of people on a television show. Good bye Mark :( ! Glad I only have to watch one more show without you....

And look at how famous I look:

Jenny from Australia let me in on this great photo app. site called Photo Funia. You should check it out and make yourself look famous too :)!

Miki--
If you're reading this, I think SYTYCD's Mark looks a lot like you. In the eyes mostly. Do you have anyone in your family from Hawaii?

I'm such and idiot. I honestly thought those pictures of you were real for a second. I thought maybe Jenny had them in Australia somewhere or something. :) Love the neighborhood water fight. So fun! And I have to ask, is it REALLY any cooler at 9 pm there? That's the thing I miss the LEAST about being there, HOT nights.

I was also very sad about Mark leaving. He grew on me over the past several weeks. I wasn't keen on him at first but of the last 3 guys, he was my favorite. He just had a special spark in his eye. And they way he was so happy for Twitch seriously touched me. What a nice fella. OH and that last dance he did with Kourtney. WOW. I could watch that over and over and over.

Your neighbor cracks me up--I love that he's behind an umbrella like a sissified old lady. Does he do surprise attacks? I think having all summer battles are make for the most memorable. Like the summer I had t.p.-ing and forking and styrofoam-cupping battles with a (boy) friend of mine.

Yes, sad to see Mark go. But I think he got farther than he ever though he could.

Ahhh... boys will be boys (at all ages). Haha!

I'm sorry your Mark is gone but I love Twitch! I was sad to see Chelsie go, too.

I think it was so cute how last week when Cat told Mark he was safe, he acted so shocked. He was fun and funky. Sad to see him go, but I love Twitch. I think Katee could take it all, but that's just me.

I stole your iPod shuffle idea and did my own - the answers were hilarious. Very fun and a good filler when you're short on post ideas. Have a great weekend. I too am taking the weekend off from posting (I'll still check other people's blogs). Thank God for the ability to schedule posts - woo hoo!

Ohhhhhh, photo funia looks like fun! I'm going to put this on my blog too... Thanks Jen and Jenny.

I like your first photo, it has a retro feel to it! And you are a nice mommy for letting your boys stay up until 9 to ride bikes, mine are LONG gone by then!

Elena,
I've been really surprised at how cool it's been this summer---compared to the 112 degrees of the past few years we've endured. We've only had a handful of 100+ days. I'm sure that means it will be a late start on Fall :( . But yes---we usually get cloud cover about 8 pm and by 9, it's in the 80's and perfect for a 1/2 hour of playing before bed.

♡ Great pictures! I think it's a fabulous idea to turn off the heat! I missed SYTYCD this week and was wondering who got kicked off!!! Very good to know! :)

Your pictures say Summertime. Wikipedia should use them in their Summertime entry.

Thanks for your comments about Favre's 'Stay Home' pay. maybe I could start a fund for a Hollywood sterilization program rather than target individual screw-ups. "You and to be in the Entertainment business? Fine." Snip!

Funny! We do the exact same thing. Riding bikes at 9PM, two hours past our original bedtime. It's just too hot during the day and since we don't have to be up at the crack of dawn (even though 3 of my 4 kids usually are) for school, I let them play in the evening when it's pleasant.

Your flowers are beautiful!!

We have a hot tub built into our deck...and love it. It's not as big as yours...but there is no heat in the summer. Sometimes it's just easier to tell the girls to splash around in that rather than venturing UP the hill to the neighborhood pool.

Jennifer!!! A comment right up top just for me!! WEE. I love those (so special I feel). Anyway, no relatives from Hawaii, but I feel so honored that your favorite dancer of all time has my eyes! Oooh la la. Thank you.

Anyway, thank you (and Jenni) for the photo website. I'll be a checkin' it out. I liked Emily's photo web site too, but haven't taken the time to figure it out. Maybe this web site will come to the same fate, but alas, this gal's got a short attention span for sure.

You're so nice to be good friends with the neighbor. I'm always so suspicious of anyone, and everyone. I'm probably missing out on some good friends. Stay away you suspicious neighbors! No...I think he was the neighbor who you've talked about a lot (the backyard BBQ, etc, etc.), but since he's someone I don't know, I'm always suspicious.

Remember me? The protective one? Yup...suspicion and doubt of everyone are formidable opponents at war in my mind constantly! Yes, you may laugh at my silliness!

Ooooohhh! You look good famous! I LOVE that! I'm just getting in from "date night" and catching up....I posted on your friend's site and I cannot wait to hear more about this pageant :) Gotta run...gotta brush up my baton twirling :) and oh, I must drag that sash out---who am I kidding...like it's tucked away somewhere???...it's hanging right over our bed :) (You know I'm sooo kidding, right?)

Forgot to say how happy your boys look !!! You are such a super mom!

Oh I love the famous photo thingy! You look cool in all those colors!

I gave my 4 year olds scooter away, she refused to ride it after she screamed and begged for it. UGH!

Those pics of the boys are so joyful! I love love love the shot of the hose coming over the fence that is hysterical. Oh and here's one of the reasons that I read EVERY word you write: "gorgeous tragedy" and "lyrical insanity." Truly brilliant descriptions...and they better be in your published works someday. I need to go check out that photo site...those pics of you look real. BTW, Ms. Oklahoma did stop by to take her crown. Thanks so much for sending her my way! Have a great weekend!

Well, I think you may be a little bit famous. I was talking to my cousin's wife tonight, and we got to talking about blogs etc.
And she mentioned you!
And there we were having a conversation about Jennifer P.
And then we laughed, because it was if we were talking about someone we really knew 'in the flesh'.

Summertime fun for the boys, you are so nice to let them stay up waiting for the cool. It never comes here till about 5am.
One day you will have a wall dedicated to you, as you will be hugely successful. Happy weekend to you too.

I forgot another comment. We were in Idaho yesterday and it was so wonderful. It made me think of home and how much I miss it. I think that is why I love coming to see what you are up to so that I can home.

Great pics! What a great idea to use the hot tub as a pool :) I'm sure the kids love it!

Thanks for the link to Photo Funia, i've been goofing around with it for an hour now lol...

Gotta love those razor scooters! My youngest was always able to go faster than the kids on the bikes! She's 18 today, and I can't quite believe it!

Hello! I found you thru eightcrazydesigns and I think I love you.

I mean, a woman who has both Du Hast and Sexyback in her playlist is my kinda gal.

I'd also love to quote you on my blog (your asparagus/potato one). Would you email me about it?

I love foto Friday. You should make the week in pictures a regular post.

I love how the sun goes down later in the Northwest!! I remember noticing that the first time I went to Seattle. At 9pm our sun has already set here in Kansas.

Thank you for sharing your photos :)

We use our hot tub the same way. In fact last year I don't think the kids were in the pool as much as the hot tub.

If you ever have the desire to take out the hot tub...let us know first and we'll make sure we talk you out of it...too fun!

I was so sad to see Mark go. I love Twitch also, but Mark was so original. I wanted him to win! I would say that I'm boycotting the show... but I'm way too addicted.
