glamour

Well my head is still spinning from the whole Today's Creative Blog thing. 407 hits in 24 hours. Whew! My site counter is pooped! My maps look like they have the measels! I totally feel like the ugly girl in high school who suddenly contracted some kind of fatal disease, and everyone felt so sorry for her that they decided to elect her prom queen. Except that I'm not in high school, or sick, or even that bad looking (if you ask my husband). So I guess none of that was really relevant at all except to bring me to the topic of this post: I feel glamorous! I have actually felt that way for several days now. This is why:

Last Friday, my husband brought me yet another forgotten Christmas gift. It was perfume. Not just any perfume, but the one I consider my 'signature scent'. It's called Chopard Casmir. I discovered it in Paris almost 15 years ago and fell in love with it's deep orchid and rich vanilla smell. They sold it in the states until about 8 years ago, then it just disappeared. I haven't found anything I liked as much, so I've been a lotion-only-no-perfume gal since my second child was born. Still, I kept my last empty bottle of perfume in our medicine cabinet, and would get it out every now and then just to sniff it. In one grand romantic gesture, my husband sleuthed out some from a French perfume website--and voila! c'est magnifique! baguette! (um, I think that's all the French I know....) I got my special smell back. And he got lots of kisses.

All my new found glamour got me a-thinkin' about who I always considered glamorous. I guess I'm "old school", because ever since I was a little girl, these were the two most glamorous women I knew:

I guess I have a thing for well-dressed, active housewives with nice teeth.

Except not these ones:

they ruined it for all of us. However......

I cordially extend you the invitation to live your life glamorously today. As for me-- I'm going to put on a little bit of my new perfume, slip into my shiny red going-out shoes, and run my vacuum cleaner! Oh yes, and I will be watching this repeatedly. It's over-the-top glamour----just the way I like it!

okay! I brushed my hair and put on a touch of lipstick, even though I'm still in my jammy pants.

I also did my hair today. First time all week thanks to a raging sinus infection. I need to buy some fancy red shoes though.

steph and lee ann--
glad you girls are looking so glam today!

elena,
James loved the video too! I guess little kids like to watch people swim! That Esther Williams is SO classy--and those women going down the water slides on their feet....talk about stuntwomen! And I have to add that the man she's swimming with is Ricardo Montalban (Mr. Rourke from Fantasy Island, and Khan from Star Trek. I didn't recognize him without his gray hair :)!)

I lost my mom a few months ago and reading blogs just makes me forget about it for a short time until of course that I read you lost your mom. I am so sorry, I do know what its like and boy oh boy has it been tough. Well have a wonderful day, enjoy your new perfume:)

Everyone needs a little glam in their life. I always put on a full face of makeup even if I am just staying home and cleaning for the day. It's nice to feel pretty!
